Cheap Multifunction device (Printer/Scanner)

Having bought one of the Dell PC deals recently (thanks HUKD) I need a printer/scanner all-in-one to complete the setup. Not too worried about the fax but if it has one then that's OK.

I want to spend under £100 and am more interested in quality rather than speed of print. It doesn't need any clever network capabilities - there'll only be one PC connected to it.

I don't mind whether it's online or at a 'real shop'.

PC has XP, USB2 if that matters.

So, any ideas on a good deal?

Thanks in advance,

mattnju

I just got this in my inbox from eBuyer:

Epson Multifunction. It's £69.99 with VAT which isn't terribly cheap but the Epson all in ones are usually the most expensive so it may be a good deal.

I bought an HP 1215 from Amazon a few months ago for ~£50 and I have been very happy with it. It looks cool and is the smallest all in one on the market so it doesn't take up much room on my desk.

Generally i would say the Lexmark all in one's are the cheapest out there. You can find deals on them for just under ~£40 usually. They are rated all right but are obviously on the lower end of the scale.

Well, funny you should say that. I did some more of my own research and decided the HP 1215 was probably for me. Most places (amazon, ebuyer and co.) seem to have it for about £65 when you factor in delivery but Comet has it for £54.99 including delivery.

It doesn't come with the USB cable but don't buy one from Comet (for £11.99) - get it from somewhere like ebuyer for <£1. (see www.ebuyer.com and search for quickfind code 48128)

More expensive at £80.00p approx. the Epson CX420

Enter RX420 into the search box.

This one is able to print direct from memory cards/camera...

5.7dpi too, so quality prints.
