Have you considered used or is that just not an option?

Obviously try ebay I got mine for £95 about 6 months ago and only had to put in a new laser for £50 although if I'm honest I was gonna try and exploit their Continuous Play program which was removed the day I realised what it was lol.

Yoiu could also try the AVforums classified section http://www.avforums.com/forums/ps3-classified-adverts/. If you're patient you should be able to beat £180.

Good Luck!

yeah i found one for 100 quid with no cables - the power supply expensive?

The PS3 has an internal Powersupply so you just need a kettle lead, the type you get with PCs. They're generic stuff so £2 quid for that and maybe £3 or £4 for a HDMI lead. The Joypads are a bit expensive though £35 quid for a Dual Shock 3.

just out of interest - do you know if the 20/40gb/60gb are more prone to YLOD?

Probably yes but I can't be 100% sure and so many people never had any problems so if you get it cheap enough then don't worry about it. Plus you can always sell broken consoles if the worst happens.

If you want an 80GB or Slim and can go up to say £190 then you'll probably be able to get one for that price if you're really patient.

Yup and it's very easy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuyQPW3bDS0
I was gonna do this myself but I find I only use the Hard Drive for Game saves so not worth it.

Thought I'd mention, on the off chance you didn't know this, that if you do find a 20GB PS3 which I've only ever seen 1 on ebay they don't have Wi-Fi, I don't use wireless anyway but it's an issue for some folks.

Thanks for the rep!

Stay away from 20GB models. These weren't released in the UK so if you get one PS2, DVD & Bluray will be locked to its original region. You will be able to play PS3 games as they are region free but you are as well buying a UK model so that you can get full use out the system.
