Hi there peeps.

We've just recently bought a rabbit and the cost of wood shavings/softwood bedding seems to add up...

Any other small animal owners know where I can buy them a bit cheaper than Tesco prices? A small pack costs £1.17 and only lasts a few days and the large pack cost £4.15.

Now that Kipper (my daughter named him :giggle:) is a firm family member who will hopefully be with us for a long time, I would appreciate saving some extra pennies whilst still kepping him comfy!

Thanks in advance

Thanks, I read up on that after a friend suggested it.

Apparantly, the shavings must be treated to remove the fine bits and dust as they will aggravate Kippers' eyes and also some types of wood are toxic to small animals, anyone know more about this?

Look in yellow pages etc for pet wholesalers. I used to buy huge bags for £2.50 every few months.

Some people have used shredded paper but that might be for smaller animals

Don`t know about rabbits but what about using paper from a shredder?

The old mother is a Gardner and instead of straw to store her bulbs she uses the paper from a shredder to wrap them and also uses the cuttings from my crosscut shredder.
