It will depend really on what you are sending, the size and weight and the destination.

Welcome to HUKD :)

Hello
I am posting my reply for the second time as I dont see it on the thread.

Thank you for your reply. I am looking to send a digital Photo Frame. The cheapest one I found was on ebuyer
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/125778

I am not exactly sure the size of this unit so cant really say how big this parcel would be. The place I want to send it to is to Sri Lanka in Asia. Its a birthday gift.

So hope anyone can give me some suggestions for the cheapest courier service.

Thanks

If the item is under 2 KG in weight nobody can beat the Royal Mail ISF.

I have used these companies for my Overseas sales without any problems:-

What does * mean?
Was it an ebay sale and if so did they pay through Paypal? If Yes and Yes it'll need to be posted within 7 days of payment and will need to be trackable. This will not be cheap but until youu tell me what * means I cannot get you a quote.
Is it 'Fragile' as in Glass? Couriers will not cover Glass for damage, only loss?

I think he means 40cm x 50cm x 45cm Steve!!

There was a problem a few years ago about letting items with LED/LCD screens travelling by air as sometimes the screen would break. Make sure any insurance you buy covers you and read the full terms and conditions. Plenty of courier companies around Heathrow/Colnbrook that specialise in Sri Lanka. Don't forget value for customs USD5

OK, My quotes are based on CM's
I have used the following myself and I know a lot of ebay sellers who have used these also without any probs.

Interparcel
http://www.interparcel.com/quote/courier-quote2.php
Parceline and DHL are both £25 plus VAT, plus insurance. Interparcel have a £1000 insurance cut off point but you can insure an item for more, but it will cost extra.

Parcels4Delivery (P4D)
http://www.p4d.co.uk/p4d/process.php
The cheapest with these is a DHL service for £23.00 plus VAT, plus insurance. With these the insurance cut off limit is £1000 but again you should be able to get it increased for a fee. Use yorkie for a 5% discount.

Pharos International
http://www.pharos-international.co.uk/cquote3.php
The cheapest with these is £50.20, that includes £1500 insurance and VAT. It's their Hercules service.

The above are Parcel re-sellers. That means they sell deliveries for major delivery companies such as DHL etc. These companies are cheaper than going direct to DHL etc.
If this was my item I would use Pharos, but the other two companies I quoted for are just as good.

Hi

Thank you guys for all the advice. I think Royal mail is the cheapest of the lot. Posting packages to asia is usually not cheap anyway.
Since this was going to be a fragile item (digital photo frame) thought I would courier it. But they are all too expensive. Royal mail special delivery gave me a good quote for it. Hope it reasches safely.

The Royal Mail DO NOT offer Special Delivery outside the UK. It has to be ISF, Airsure or Standard Airmail.
