joking apart hive is a thermostat which should work with most boilers it u can pick one up around 100 quid it's a bit of a fad unless u have a really funny pattern of coming home at different times and stuff just programme ur normal thermostat they can do upto 6 or even 8 programmes

Hi, sorry amended :)

Looking for a Hive kit to control a Combi boiler so no need for the separate hot water control.

I agree on the fad thing as I always thought I could just turn the thermometer up and down myself.
Reason for change of mind is mother in law coming to live with us as she has cancer in the spine and now can't get out of bed so I thought she could control the heating with her phone and we could keep an eye on it whilst at work.

Yup, if you are a " normal " family with 2.2 kids then I'd agree. However those with flexible jobs, multiple houses or complex diaries it saves me spending loads in heating empty houses or turning up to a house when the heating is off and freezing your Harris off for a couple of hours.

When a relative had a carer at home, we were advised to get a Hive. We were going to set it st 19C during day, but lock it and control it remotely as the relative was a bit beyond using any type of control without using brute force. When its set, you should not really need to change it during the day.
