I'm looking for the best price for this camera for a Birthday present and would be grateful if anyone knows of a good deal, preferably through Quidco if possible. Thanks

I don't know which stores use Quidco but have you tried searching with http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/ ?

Looking to buy one of these too. The cheapest I found from a "reliable" retailer is:
http://www.buyacamera.co.uk/search.asp?RecId=PANCA290

Can anyone do any better? Perhaps there are some quidco or other cashback deals around somewhere?

You can get that price at egears.co.uk too, with £4 delivery, see my post on the other thread mentioned above. Egears are OK, but my blue one shipped from the states, took 3 days.

Big City Digital web site says:

WE WILL NOT MATCH THE FOLLOWING WEBSITES:

www.bestpricedbrands.co.uk

www.egears.co.uk

These companies portray themselves as UK Based companies but both ship their products from the USA contrary to misleading claims on their websites. They mislabel your packages to avoid VAT on entry to the country, which puts you the customer in risk of criminal prosecution. You will also not be covered by British Trading Standards laws and leave yourself vulnerable to warranty problems.

We do not match:

Warehouse clubs or any retail club requiring membership.
Special offers or discount for multiple purchases.
Prices from auction sites or stores trading outside the UK.

We do not price match Companies who ship from outside of the EU even though they claim to be a UK Company. You can usually spot this as they use UPS couriers and say 'fast dispatch' or 'usually shipped in 1-3 days'. The item you buy will be subjected to customs import tax/fee when it enters the UK. By buying internationally, you are considered an importer. Therefore it is your responsibility in case there is import tax/fee to pay (17.5% of the value of your order).

Thanks for the info. It is true they mislabel the packages to avoid VAT, but I think Big City Digital are doing a bit of scaremongering with the rest of their claims. Not that I blame them.

I agree it's better to buy in the UK if you can find a good price, but I felt it worth the risk for the extra tenner I gained. I will see what egears say about the warranty, but I do know I am covered by the Consumer Credit Act with a card purchase.

If anything, what I find annoying (and I am sure Big City Digital feel the same way) is - how come they let egears and others get away with VAT avoidance? They seem to be openly doing this, yet the government does nothing. No wonder UK retailers, who pay VAT, get so bitter. They can't possibly compete with a company that doesn't pay VAT, yet they are openly allowed to trade in this way!

I'm still looking.
A friend of mine ordered one from "Camerabox" a week ago and is still waiting for it !
I don't think I'll use them as he said they have been very unhelpful.
Any more suggestions ?
