I've never seen USB sticks from the pound shops. Not saying they don't exist but I'd have thought unlikely.

Might be worth a price enquiry with them for the number you plan to buy.

Comes from China (but mine always seem to come from the UK via Yodel). I've purchased items and USB drives from Gearbest and so far all have turned out to be genuine when tested with HW2Test.

UK supplier and the number you are going to buy will get free delivery. I've got a number of these Toshiba drives for storing copies of operating systems, so far they are faultlessly reliable.

The same thing again but in white from BTshop.

Benefits of the latter 2 is that they have a 5 year warranty on them if they fail. However, they are quite slow to write data to. But if it's just being used for office documents and the odd picture they will be fine.

Personally I'd go with the hassle free, UK delivered option with the long warranty. Plus opting for an 8GB drive makes them much more useful than say a 1GB one while being only a small amount more expensive. ie useful after the purpose they were purchased for originally.

Of course only you can justify what price and option is best for your needs.

Staples have lots of them on sale in store as they seem to be getting rid of their lower sized stock.
