There's no doubt that flight prices in general have gone over up the last couple of months and all the bargains to NY and elsewhere have dried up. are normally one of the cheapest and currently have NY from £329, a bit rubbish when they were doing it for aout £100 less a few months ago.
Always more expensive for that time of year. Some people still do pre-Christmas shopping in the States so they cash in on those travellers. NY towards Christmas is great too so popular with romantic breaks etc, it's worth paying a bit more to go at this time to experience it but not if you're after a bargain flight necessarily.

As well as this you have people flying home for Thanksgiving and then for Christmas.

Always loads of deals around Easter and the weather is usually nice by then, not too warm or too cold, both of which can be particularly nasty. The British weather is nothing compared to the winters they get in NY.
