I got my mum and dad joint membership of the National Trust last year and they loved going to plaaces this summer. English Heritage do a similar thing.

I am 60 and last year my daughter gave my husband and I 'Leisure Vouchers'. We could use them at loads and loads of hotels, restaurants, days out etc. We have loved using them. You just need to google Leisure vouchers' to see the whole list.

Cagen on MSE posted details of the following short break yesterday:

Hotels - 2nights, 2 people, dinner, b&b from £99

"This isn't available online, you have to call the reservations office on 0207 266 1100 to book it, but you can view the 9 hotels available at http://www.peelhotels.co.uk/

You get 2 nights for 2 people in an executive room, dinner each night and English breakfast each morning. Price depends on the month of stay, but starts at £99 in January.

These are really good value, I bought a couple last year as gifts and the great thing is they don't show the price on the voucher so everyone thinks you spent a fortune! Offer expires 31/12/10"

I organised some theatre tokens for my parents, you can use them at loads of theatres and my parents will love them. I got them at a discount from a seller on eBay who sells loads of them with something like 15% off.
