Hi, thinking of getting one but had a few questions....

- Is this just so you can stream content from your tablet/phone to your TV?

- If I set up a Wauki account to get the free chromecast by purchasing a TV season, can I then sell the account to someone who wants the series?!

- The google play credit, is that a guaranteed £15 credit to my CURRENT google play account?

Thanks

I stream Netflix, Showbox, Cartoon Hd , YouTube and other videos stored on my Android phone. Works perfectly. Not sure on your other questions though.

Is google broken again? It's the exact opposite of your first question, it's not designed at all to stream content from your tablet/phone, it can do it with work arounds, but it's not designed for it, or seamless integration.

Brilliant helpful comment there. Did that get you off?

So yeah, you can stream movies from your nexus 7 tablet for example?

Can you also have it plugged into a HDMI switch so it'll turn itself on when you request it to?
#6
Yes. My Chromecast is on a HDMI switcher

Yes. My Chromecast is on a HDMI switcher

Is it always powered then? Or does it get turned on by the device you cast to it?
#8
It powers from a USB cable thats supplied with it(which I have plugged into the TV)
#9
jay dog , yes you can stream movies, I leave mine plugged in to the TV? HDMI plug in for the Chromecast, and USB on the TV for its power, as soon as I select "cast" on my phone ect ,it turns its self on , ... when finished I just change channels back on the TV

If your Chromebook is getting hot I'm guessing you don't shut the lid so you have two pictures being produced. Try closing the Chromebook it still works ;-)

Because most of the 'free' things you are referring to are illegal.

On a Saturday night all the latest movies are up on YouTube, your watching of them is NOT illegal.YouTube hosting it and who ever put it there are breaking the law and its the same for any other streaming site. But since they are usually in Russia or China its just tuff ;-)

And you really believe that you're not doing anything wrong? Oh dear, the level of intelligence on here baffles me sometimes.

if you use the reply button it makes it easier for users to know who you are answering.

In response to your comment yes there are many free legitimate video streaming sites available but the comment above clearly wasn't suggesting to use those when they referenced showbox.

So basically, I can stream any music I buy from Google Play, to my TV and speakers which are connected to it?!

Another question, is it fairly easy to stream your photos and videos you've taken on your camera from your phone and tablet?

I can't speak for older version of Android but I've got a Nexus 5 with the most recent version of Android on it and there is an option to cast the entire screen which makes it easy to show your photos and videos from your phone on your TV.

In that case you should be able to see the option in the notification bar (pull down from the top of the screen twice), where you can see the WiFi, bluetooth settings etc..., it should be in the bottom right hand corder called Cast screen.

I managed to pick one up during Black Friday (£16 from Tesco) and I was so annoyed that streaming Netflix or YouTube to it wouldn't work. The app would load, but always got an error message.

Someone figured out (I believe it was on Reddit) that if you're with BT (like I am), everytime a new device connects to your wi-fi, parental controls pop up. Of course, you can't see this with Chromecast. To disable this, head to bthomehub.home, login with advanced settings, home network then Smart Setup. Just say NO to that and it should work.

Every now and then there'll be some offers, I got credited £15 to my current Google account and got a free movie.
