What can I buy my daughter so I can talk to her more often. We don't really communicate during the week as she's at school, but we have an awesome relationship and I have her every friday-sunday and most holidays. I'm just looking for something I can chat to her on more regular during the week to build our relationship more, that's preferably not a phone as she's only 8 years old.

thanks

I was thinking maybe a small netbook that takes a sim card with Skype or something on it

shout

write a letter each day, could be quite exciting for a kid.

ipod is the next thing as u don't want to get her a phone, don't blame u though I agree that sometimes they are used for wrong reasons or too often that we forget the basic principles of a good chat

It is difficult to say as you said she is in school etc so generally you don't get to speak to your child most of the day just like with any parent with kids.

Like the poster above, an iPod might be your best option. You can install skype and use video calling. I do this if I am working late shifts or on the weekend.

A 4G tablet like a iPad so you can instant message each other and face time

You can get a reasonable tablet for £100 or less. As said about ipod you can install Skype on it. I suggest a tablet over ipod as I don't personally think young children should be using ear phones or buds ( I know you can limit volume)

thanks for all your input :).... will have a think about the ipod or tablet... the letter would be cool but I'd have to wait 3 days for a reply :D
