Just got myself a new printer so looking to stock up on some good quality compatable ink cartridges.

Is their any brands that I should definitely stay away from?

Cheers

Have you looked on eBay?

See item 260281206392
10 cartridges (2 x PGI 5,2 x CLI 8B,2 x CLI 8C, 2 x CLI 8 M,2 x CLI 8 Y) for £11.99 + £2.99 p&p
--- Be aware: these requires to retain the original cartridge microchip ---

You can have them with a chip pre-installed, but it is way more expensive.

I don't have a IP4500, so I cannot tell you if the 'chip swapping' is easy, but they say so.

Hope it helps

chip swapping is quite easy (can be a bit fiddly for hamfisted people like myself)

I also have the same printer as yourself, it's excellent.

To be brief -
Order the compatable cartridges from here www.ink.co.uk
Take a look at these ones at about 38p - http://shop.ink.co.uk/shop/product/catid/D-Canon/subcatid/Canon+PIXMA+iP4500/productid/1070777-C008B/site/1/lng/en_EN?shopid=d96d3bfb1de6b12605e99dbc2727ba2c&visitid=&refid=
Order every cartridge required and also purchase this resetter -

Chip swapping depends on the mould and quality of the compatible cartridge (in my opinion). I have seen many fall off and fail to attach to the cartridges. I would always be cautious buying ones that require the original chip.
