A large swathe of my emails going all the way back to March have disappeared and I can't retrieve them, and I can't find any way to contact Hotmail support. I've tried the main Microsoft Global Customer Service Number for the UK on 0344 800 2400, but it just tells you to go to their website.

Without wanting to alarm you, it sounds like your account has been hacked and someone is archiving your mails locally, change you password. Preferably enable 2 step authentication. Not sure of a phone number though, sorry.

I can't find a direct phone number and I doubt that you will be able to contact Hotmail as it no longer exists (it was replaced with Outlook), however you can go in to live chat with somebody over at Microsoft if you follow this link - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/contactus/

Once you have typed your issue you should be sent to another page. The link for live chat is on the bottom right (desktop view)

I'll change my password.

RossD89, how do I get onto that page that you posted a screenshot of?

Click the link that I posted and then click "Geting Started" (I typed "Hotmail" when the dialogue box came up) and you should be redirected to that page

** I have just tried that link using a mobile browser and the page doesn't seem to be loading correctly... If you are using a mobile browser and seeing a screen similar to the one posted below then tap "Services and Apps" towards the bottom of the screen and choose "Outlook" when asked to choose a service you wish to discuss. If there is a problem with your account, you may want to tap "Accounts and Billing". You will be required to sign in once you click on one of the options.
