We have bought a second hand Iphone 6S that is currently locked to Vodafone. The previous owner originally purchased it sim-free from Carphone Warehouse (we have the receipt) but as they do from there, it has locked to the first sim inserted. Vodafone have told me they will unlock it for £19.99 after 30 days use.

My question is after unlocking from Voda will it relock again to the first sim inserted as it was from CPW or will it be permanently unlocked like those direct from Apple?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the answer on the unlocking.

I'm actually on a Voda sim only deal and I have tried the unlocking form which asks for the IMEI number but I get the response the phone is not linked to my account. I cannot put my sim in the 6S temporarily as it's a micro sim rather than the 6S's nano sim.

just phone and ask for a nano sim? then get unlocked?

but my phone number will have to be transferred to the nano sim which I don't want to happen and I don't want another phone number on my account as I am claiming cashback from mobiles.co.uk and don't want to give them a chance to reject.

Yes don't do it even if u did and it isn't unlocked how would it register to the sim. have u checked.uts definitely locked they usually aren't from cpw unless it's a apple thing.

check ebay it may be cheaper for a unlock code or online companies they offer full refund if it's unsuccessful in unlocking it for u. usually around 8.99 for voda

So what happens if you use a cable to connect it to your itunes account through a pc? That is how we did it for an iphone 5 for my son. We realised the last person had not taken the phone from their account. Once they did it just connected to my sons account no problem and it was unlocked instantly.

Definitely locked to Voda, tried O2 and EE but no good. Apparently CPW supplied Iphones lock to the first sim so practically false advertising from CPW. They are "sim-free" ..... but only once.

Will give that a go before paying for the unlock, thanks.

SIMFREE means just that, any SIM can go in it. Carphone Warehouse phones do NOT lock to the first network it connects to. If it's locked then they sold it to you locked.

There is a difference between an UNLOCKED phone and a SIMFREE one

Please get your info correct before posting.. the OP is correct in what they said.
ALL CPW phones lock to the network of the first sim used.. this is from experience over many iPhones in the past few years. I get good deals on CPW iPhones so I purchase there!
CPW sold iPhones even lock to Three network eventhough Three themselves don't lock any of their directly sold iPhones.

I'm having the same problem. I wanted my iphone 5 unlocked and paid OfficialPhoneUnlock £19.99 for a code. The next day I had a reply from this company. To release the unlock for your device which will be sent Over The Air using either 3G, WiFi or by connecting the iPhone to a computer running iTunes, you will need to pay the remaining unlocking balance (as stated on the website before purchase) which is £39.99. Delivery to your iPhone takes 1-30 days, as soon as it has delivered we will email you. Lucky for me my bank refunded the money. Still trying to get my phone unlocked.

try phoning up Vodafone and asking them to unlock it anyway I have done it before. or ask for a new SIM and put it in once. the new SIM should break 3 time.to do all the sizes then you can put it back to the other size or you can get an adapter
