I mean grants offered by charities or local councils. Money that they give you as a one off payment to help you with things like finding work or clothes if you are on a low income

Depending on your age, I know JSA offers help when you have found a job but this depends on the centre itself.

Job Seekers Allowance - not talking from personal experience here but I've heard they give you an allowance (if required) to pay for things like interview clothes and travel on top of whatever you get given.

Hi there I don't think there is anything. I've taken on a number of young people over the years and non of them have ever had anything like this. Otherwise you would get young people taking the money and not even try and get a job.
If your worried about getting tools etc to do a trade, most tool suppliers can set up a direct debit so your not stung with a massive bill.
As for work wear. Company's would supply anything with their logo on so no need to buy that. Things like work boots and trousers would more than likely need to be brought buy the worker. But their cheap on places like ebay or markets etc. If it was office work and you needed smart clothes then they would need to be brought by the worker. If a young person didn't have any suits etc. Wear you old school trousers if you are short for cash.
