Currys wouldn't have let me change my mind.. but I have noticed some pretty bad clouding in the tv. For one so expensive, it's clearly unacceptable. I'm going to return it, but has anyone here experienced getting a refund for a faulty product from currys? Bought this yesterday, by the way

Shouldn't be a problem -just take it back if its faulty . I do prefer JL for the extended free warranty - but after a day or even a year will be no problem with Currys .

Yeah I am hoping to return this for a refund and buy from jl.. It looks like they'll give a full refund on this as it's faulty.. but things never go easy with currys :(

If it's faulty they'll always go down the route of repairing it first, a refund is usually their last course of action.

Within 21 days of purchase if a product is faulty you can choose a refund I believe.

You should get a refund absolutely fine.

Didn't see how long he's had it for, either way Currys will still try to mug him off with a repair. Make sure not to let them fob you off if the TV is genuinely faulty OP.

I think you need to see their terms first. You will absolutely be entitled to a refund as I have already stated.

Here is a link to their online orders, it will differ slightly with in-store terms and condition however it states that you have an option to accept an exchange or refund if you return the product within 21 days: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/terms-and-conditions-1044-theme.html#faulty

Funny when you buy a tv Currys open it up first to check it, made me chuckle/annoyed all in one go.

Many thanks for the advice, guys. I think I'll go there tomorrow and tell them that I'll only accept a refund. As mentioned by someone here, the t&cs do clearly say "refund"..
By the way, apart from the clouding on this screen, the sony w829 does have a nifty picture quality

Your problem was going in currys in first place. If it's faulty they have to refund, not fit for purpose

If the item develops a fault in the first 6 months you and you can prove it by showing the store assistant you can exchange it for another. The store does not have to give you a refund tho just replace it.

Electrical items are excluded from the 28 day money back guarantee if the packaging has been opened. Unless faulty of course.

If the item becomes faulty shortly after purchasing it you can get a refund.

Do not mention John Lewis to them or they can challenge the return if you cannot prove it is not faulty.

Always buy online with a credit card, its the most protection as you have 2 weeks to inspect and return for ANY reason.

Currys will refund the difference if you find a product cheaper up to seven days after purchase so if it's more about the TV being cheaper at jl than the clouding just go in store with your receipt and they will price match. I did this a few weeks back on a washing machine and got £160 refunded
