Is there any such thing as a deal on broadband with BT? Or anyway to get money back etc. I only get 512 connection so speed is not the issue so it comes down to price in limits on usage. thanks

I work for BT and if you're after a reliable connection(if you know how a filter, modem and computer work) then yeah, but you aint gonna be looking at any hot uk deal there.

The only thing I could suggest though is to order online and you get a higher discount than over the phone.

if you order Option 3 over the Net you get the hub and phone free
but if you phone the COUGH (commision based) operators for a BT contract you will be charged for this equipment.

lol i used to work for BT aswell as a Technical support in dundee

not got alot of choise as I can't get any other companies to look at me because the broadband checkers tell them I can't get broadband yet BT will give me 512. As customers can't contact BT wholesale what am I to do? The companies will not believe me and BT tells me to tell them to contact BT whole sale......really hacked off and don't know what else to do.

I take it you live in a not so populated area then?

What we got told at our BT training was if you get enough people in your area who want a better broadband system then they might consider it if its worth their while.

Well, basically, you can get bb with other isp's.

Its the other ISPs responsability. BT retail(the guys who send out the bills) have to go through bt wholesale and exactly the same channels as other ISPs.

Try www.samknows.com that may help you

Bianco its not really Bt now its another name isnt it?
or is it just the engineers that are known now by something else?

I think it is changing again.....my sis-in-law (another BT worker) let something slip about it all....not that it helps me much, still can't reach BT wholesale and other ISP's refuse to believe I can get bb

actully orange have said they will look into it and to phone back in 5 working days but somehow I don't think it will come to anything as another ISP did same thing then backed out due to line lenght. even got ofcom involved as this big problem up here and BT got millions from scottish exec to put in broadband.....ofcam want to string them up but need more complains and sadly most people in rural areas aint savey when it comes to PC and tend to stay with BT and not even consider other ISPs

Can you not just visit all the Broadband sites and pick the one that best suits you that you can get? does it have to be BB with BT (eerrrr if you know what i mean)

try here for all your different BB providers and also it give you a tick list to see which one is the best:

worst thing is neighbours have bb but went with bt for first year and then can change no problem.....bt wholesales checker says I can get bb just everyone elses says I can't really don't understand it.

you need to be with BT for 3 months mate thats what they state, after that you can change to whatever provider you want for Broadband, all you have to do is pay your line rental, but that to is something you can change now !!
You can change everything if you want nowadays, BB provider and line rental.

When i say 3 months and after that you can change to whoever you want too, well thats not intirely possible as after your first month your in a year contract or sometimes 18 months.

If your neighbours have it then you will def get it.
