Don't want to spend loads, just good bang for my buck. What does everyone recommend?

Computer is as follows:

P4 2.8 (HT) (upgradable to a Dual core at a later date if I wish, or up to 3.8ghz)
2gb RAM DDR2 533mhz

I have a Nvidia 6800 you can have for £15

Depends what you have to spend. I tend to look at around £100 as my benchmark for a graphics card. For that you can get (£106) a 9800GT from Dabs - nice card.

Good card but prob a bit much, as its in the top range, mine 6800 is a top of the range card from a couple of generations ago and is as good as a med range new card now.
Also would prefer ATI to Nvidia for new cards lol

I had a p4 3.2 ghz ht awhile ago had a x600 256 card in ti origanally

Upgraded it to an 7800 gtx

Upgraded to an 8800 gtx

I got the same frames per second (in battlefield2)with the 7800 gtx card as the 8800 gtx this was due to a bottleneck in my computer probally the cpu.

My local cex had a 7800 gtx card for 35.00

thats cool, If you look at the chart that antony4462 posted the 6800 is just behind the 7800 he mentioned, It is a very good reliable card with DVI and VGA connections. Might even swap for a 360 game to if you have any ;)
I am like antony4462 I upgrade all the time, so my cards are top of the range until the next one comes out.
If you dont want it thou, you really would be better getting a good older card then a midrange or low range new card, and you can see in the chart posted :)

hope it helps and let me know either way :)
