Hi, I've bought a Dell Inspiron 580 desktop, and from what I can see it has no wireless card in it. Can anyone tell me what i need to get? Is it a card of some kind that needs to go inside the case, as I have heard that the USB wireless adapters are not so good?

thanks to anyone kind enough to explain this to me

Desktops dont usually come with wifi (laptops invariably do). as long as you have a reasonable signal from your router either a usb stick or internal (PCI-e card) will do the trick.

If you want to go for usb (more flexible and less hassle) then I have a brand new one that you can have for a tenner, its the fastest (N-speed) variant. if you have any questions generally or about the one i am selling ask away

cheers,
dan

with the advantage of the separate aerial if you need better reception

i find the usb ones have worse reception and get too hot, and dont work reliably
