Descaling A Coffee Machine

This is a bit of a weird bit of advice to be asking on here, but hell, its worth a shot.

I am looking for some decent but not to expensive descaler for my Delonghi coffee maker. I think its getting to the point where it needs it as the crema is starting to be poor when brewed.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a descaler that's good but reasonably priced?

I had a quick gander at Delonghi's spares website and found this product: http://www.4delonghi.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=1085488&item=670788§ion=54542&path=54536,54542

It seems very expensive for what you get - I think two 125mil bottles - which would be two treatments.

Surely there must be some fellow HUKD members who may be able to help moi?

That's an interesting idea.

I wonder how it works... if I can't find any cleaning kits I may have ago at that.

how about using white vinegar, they always use it on how clean is your house to clean everything, think you mix it with lemon juice to hide the smell, but white vinegar isn't that strongly scented anyway.

google it

When you say lovely stuff do you mean safe enough for a coffee machine, not just the drip type, mine is one of those bean to cup jobs

Is 8 years and 2 months a record for bumping an old thread?
