I'm looking for the best value desktop PC for around £300-£400, ideally a i3 processor with 4Gb ram. No monitor is required, although if included at a good price, I can sell it seperately after.

It will be needed to run basic tasks such as web browsing, excel / word etc, and mainly used as a media centre in my lounge for watching 1080p high def movies (avi, mkv etc). It wont really be used to play games. HDMI output would be good, as would be 7.1 digital output (ideally via HDMI, although I'm not sure if this is available, otherwise digital coax).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

How about this one from Overclockers.

Newer technology than Core2Quad, again 4gb DDR3. okay £20 over budget but not bad at all...plus OCUK are generally very very good. I brought components for a desktop build and had no problems at all. Plus if you want something customising just give them a call and ask.

BTW if dont work for them! lol:)

500GB is enough and new processor great price

Thanks all for your help. I do like the sound of the overclockers i3 deal, but without the Win7 x64 OS OS, it's gonna be a bit pricey... I'll keep my eye out for something similar or stump up some extra cash!

All, thanks for your responses and offers via PM. I've had a change of heart and think I'll be going for the new i3 processor technology as this will better suit my needs.

Any great deals on i3 PC's would be appreciated.
Thanks
