Did you upgrade with mobile phone contract recently?

Hi searched through various posts on getting a deal during upgrade. I am due to upgrade with O2 in a week and don't have any phone particular in mind. In the worst case, am ready to terminate the contract.

Just wanted to check on good upgrade deals people have got recently.

cheers

I just upgraded mine last week and I'm on O2. I was on the 35 quid tariff with 600 mins and 1000 texts.
My best advise is to have a look at other deals on the net first so you can give o2 an example of what you could be getting elsewhere, (and not necessarily on their network).
I spotted a deal on the sony ericsson w980 (decent phone as it has 8 gb internal memory), at phones4u it was 15 quid a month through redemption and something like 400 mins and 1000 texts. I spoke to O2 - the redemption department as they have the authority to offer you deals, told them of the deal I could be getting at phones4u. I waited a minute and then they offered me 500 mins, 1000 texts, new phone all for 15 quid a month, with no redemption involved. They also gave me free broadband for 12 months which I gave to my Mum as I'm quite happy with my sky broadband.

Same as Melissa
Find the deal you want
phone up to cancel now.
when asked why, just tell them you have seen a better deal.
they will always offer you one of their deals, if it's not the deal you want politely decline.
If your not put through to retentions wait for the phone call back off them
They will match whatever deal you have found.

Thats how i'm still on 300mins, 1000txts, 50 sms', 50 video mins and £5 worth of downloads for £15 a month (sorry deal is no longer available to match against)

Only thing is remember if you are looking for cashback (ie. Quidco) I don't think they will match that so sometimes it is still worth cancelling and taking a new contract up (but possibly not worth the hastle of keeping your number).

Just jump onto a simplicity contract until you see a phone you like then upgrade and jump onto contract again

Hi, I am with 02, I told them I wanted a cheaper offer, so they told me to keep my existing phone and I got 400 mins and 400 text for £10 per month, 12 month contract.

Everyone's upgrade will be slightly different.
The computer generates your 'worth as a customer' based on your average spend over the last 6 months and if you use all your minutes and texts. The value dictates what the agents can offer you.
Other peoples offers can give you a guide as to what you might be offered, but as everyone's spend is different everyone's offer will be too. So just because Mick got a N96 with 1000 mins and unlimited text for 5 quid doesn't mean you'll get the same offer. . .

I understand upgrade offer depends on how much we have spent before. Apparently this is my secondary phone and haven't gone a penny over the trariff and which case I wont be getting good deal. No worries I can terminate in the worst case. :whistling:

People on this website are really stars

thank you all
