The difference between 'Dispatching Now' and 'Dispatching Soon' on Amazon?

Ordered something last night on Amazon, and the order has changed to "Dispatching now" - yet it's been there for well over 5 hours now.
Just curious as I have never seen this before and has the regular 'Dispatching Soon' been changed to 'Dispatching now' for no particular reason??

Thanks!

I suppose dispatching now means they are sending now and dispatching soon means they are sending soon

Yet they are not sending it now - since it has been now for 8+ hours. So presumably they mean soon.... So why are they saying now oO

Think the difference is if you buy from amazon directly you get "dispatch now" as they have control of dispatch (and are sending now), where as a third party gets "soon" which really means we've taken your money (amazon) but we now rely on the third party to ship "soon" and as they dont know when they will exactly send it, they can only assume its going soon...

Last weekend an order I placed on the Thursday showed as Dispatching Now the whole weekend, until I cancelled it on Monday as it wouldn't arrive on time.

    Thanks
Is this a new system though? Honestly haven't seen it say "dispatch now" rather than "soon" before from memory.

    I'm livid right now!
I ordered express delivery a few hours ago and if it remains dispatching now how the hell is that going to get here tmrw. I'm giving it a few more hours and then i'll have to cancel. What's annoying me is another item i left as standard delivery has been dispatched. That has truly and utterly p ssd me off.

it's not being sent by pigeon

couriers like dpd can leave it right up to the last minute to board their vans (11pm)

I have no idea what 'dispatching now' and 'dispatching soon' mean. But 'dispatched' does NOT mean sent. I have received emails to tell me that items were dispatched when they were not even available to be dispatched. Then an Amazon representative called me up and offered me money to withdraw my comment. I refused but I think they wiped the comment anyway.

What does Amazon mean by 'dispatched'? Probably 'we are not going to accept any changes to your order'.
