We are after a new digital camera. We had a 6Mp Samsung which after a few drops has started to play up and needs replacing.

I have seen the Samsung S760 for £49.99 and Samsung S85 for £54.99 on Hotukdeals but was wandering whats good to go for and other options around this price. It needs a SD slot as I have SD cards already.

I would recommend the Kodaks I have one myself, but the fuji lenses are far superior (apparently). But I think it all comes down to what you want to use it for, if you want simple menus and point and click, go with the kodaks, but do you have any idea on resolution (megapixels) or zoom that you would like?

When do you want it? If you're prepared to wait until the end of August then Canon usually do a cashback incentive during the August Bank Holiday weekend which should give some good bargains on some excellent cameras. It tends to be the Powershot range. I got the Powershot A720is at Easter for about £90 after cashback, which is an excellent deal.

If you can't wait then all I'd suggest is to ignore any brand that you've never heard of (and the Hitachi ones at Argos) and possibly go into Jessops to have a look. They'll be more than happy to let you have a go with the cameras and then you simply go and buy it cheaper off the net. A bit cheeky I know, but at least it gives you the opportunity to try them out in the flesh as it were.

Also there are lots of review sites around which should give a bit more insight once you've narrowed down the search. I particularly like Steve's Digicams.

Sorry I can't be more specific and say, buy this one, but there are so many good cameras out there I wouldn't know which is best for you!
