Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying an iMac and wondered if anyone knew if it's possible to barter with the staff at the Apple Stores to get better discounts and freebies (apart from student discounts)?

(Please no PC vs Mac arguements!! lol)

lol no point in trying.

go to apple store website, and you can get up to 14% off (or around that figure) if you qualify for a student discount. you need to login through your university though.

however, when i was on holiday and not at uni i could not do that. SO i started a live chat with one of the reps on the uk store, explained it to them and they generated me a 30 minute link which i could click and get the 14% discount with.

you can also get just under 10% off if you are at high school or in other education before uni, but uni has most discount

I am also planning on getting a Mac. I have decided that I want the iMac 27 Quad core with 8gb RAM. Adds up to £2000, lol.
On a student (higher ed) discount it works out about £1750ish, So I would save about £250. Only prob, Am not a student.
I dont think you can haggle the price down. They seem very firm on the chat.
Let me know how you get on. The refurbished prices are not much different to the higher ed prices so its better to get a student discount if you can.
Which Mac you going for?

The most expensive mac is £1719, but it doesnt state any specs so cant see if its the i5/i7 or not.
