Mods removed the eBay listing, which was prudent, however I think it's important to have a place for those who did get reeled in to a potential scam to communicate.

Obviously the listing seems far too good to be true, and there are some red flags - so I would not recommend anyone purchasing from the seller.

Anyone attempted to communicate with the seller? How does refunds work in a situation like this?

Is it better to open a dispute using eBay or Paypal? I read a reply from the eBay community threads that we should dispute using PayPal since the item sold is no longer listed on eBay. But that doesn't really make sense to me. Does whether the item is still listed or not on eBay validates/invalidates the buyer protection?

Also, what happens if I open a PayPal dispute before the delivery date? Will they eventually side with the seller saying that I was impatient, and so won't return my money?

Thanks in advance for answering!

Aren't we protected by paypal and ebay?

Normally you have to wait until the product doesn't arrive or the seller disappears.
Once this happens then you lodge a dispute with seller via eBay, after a few days they'll confirm the situation and issue a refund.

Yeh i think if the seller disappears it speeds things up. I bought a copy of Deus Ex for £25 (too good to be true?..it was). No-one receive their copy and the seller disappeared but I didn't have to wait the full 28 days (or whatever it is) before I could claim my money. Ebay had sorted within about a week.

He has sold almost £150000 worth of the G7 in the last few days oO
The delivery date 12th of Dec puts me off,it's either coming from China or not at all.
#5
his listed number is ringing, but no answer on the other end...

they're selling the g7 for 400 euros in germany i believe, so it is feasible for it to be this low. but the other details are sketchy

I just purchased iPhone 6s for 319? price has risen to 349 on site. best to let it ride and wait for delivery / non-delivery?

The other question is, why isn't their at least one other seller (high st, internet, ebay) with a similarly priced S7.

There is one positive feedback today from someone who supposedly bought an XBOX at the black Friday price, could that person (with a good history of ebay feedback) be colluding with the seller? so confused about this deal
#10
All items have disappeared now. I expect this to be a scam :( But as vinsona85, hopefully now they've disappeared ebay will be on the case and refund quickly.
#11
So what do we do from this point? just wait?
#12
Anyone heard any more ?
#13
nope. no reply to my email either.
#14
I pinged the seller and he replied not long ago saying original estimate was Dec 10 but he's hoping to have the item with me earlier. He also suggested I could cancel if I didn't want to wait. Who knows, maybe this is actually legit?!

Does anyone know exactly what triggered the mods to remove the listing?

Does anyone know exactly what triggered the mods to remove the listing?

I have asked mods and got this reply

"Hi,

Thanks for your message. This was allowed initially on HUKD as they met our minimum listing criteria for Ebay (over 1000 sales feedback from 12 months with a score of more than 95%). We then received many reports from the community believing the prices were a little too good so following this feedback we made the decision to remove the existing thread and block any others.

Hopefully those member which ordered will get news from their orders shortly.

from your HUKD Team "

So it sounds like it was pulled for being too good to be true. I guess we'll find out in due course. Would be interested if anyone else gets any contact from the seller. I'm gonna ride it out, considering the account is 10years old it feels like it's either legit or the account has been hacked/sold for exactly this purpose. No point in cancelling as I'll get money back one way or another.

The seller has got additional feedbacks on his account (all positive), one of them being a positive feedback from a refund of this phone deal.

I sent a message to the seller and he replied saying the item will be with me in 10days max 12. The only problem is PayPal takes money by 9th Dec which is before i get the item.

I am going to contact PayPal before that if that can be delayed until i get the item.

I doubt that will fly. As a seller you expect to see the money arrive before you ship an item for obvious reasons.
#20
Thats not how Pay after Delivery works.

In PayPal, you complete checkout so the money is on hold and if the item does not arrive within 14 days or is not as described, no money goes out of ur account. Simple as that.

Yep. I had that turned on and it was enoying so turned it off.

Has anyone actually asked Ebay if it's a hijacked account etc ?

I received responses from the seller yesterday confirming that my order was cancelled and saying that I could expect my refund in the next day or two - hopefully this is all legit then. I didn't pay with paypal so I was bricking it...

Cool. Regardless of PayPal ebay would still cover if any issue so I don't think any reason to brick it. What made you cancel it?

Not sure that's true - to be covered, you have to use PayPal from what I understand (reading the terms of the money back guarantee).

In any case, I had assumed I was being scammed and bought a Huawei P9 Lite for £150 at the weekend. Realised that I don't need whatever the extra £250 gets me so I have cancelled. But the seller has been very communicative with me, so either it's legitimate or they are going to enormous lengths to keep stringing people on for as long as possible...

Not counting my chickens 'til I get the money back on my credit card statement though...

Odd: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/safetycentre/eBaybp.html

Conflicts with the page you found:
"Always pay for your purchases with PayPal.
To be eligible for the eBay Money Back Guarantee , you'll need to pay for your item using PayPal."

Looks like you have the US (paypal.com) guidelines which are more generous than ebay UK, so credit card payments are not automatically covered.

Interesting. Possibly that's because in the UK if you pay by a credit card you're automatically protected under Consumer Credit Act...

I don't suppose you asked him why he was selling so cheap which made a lot of people skeptical of the deal?

Nope - the delivery date says something about the way he must have been doing it though.. bulk supplier from China or possibly even buying them cheap in europe and selling for a small profit in the UK (seems unlikely though).

Do they make UK specs in China?

I've also been fully refunded from the seller in the past 24 hours, so as nibbler12 says, it's not quite a scam. I was told mine would be delivered on the 9th, when I emailed him for an update he said the 12th - this made me a bit more skeptical so I decided to go ahead with the refund. But hopefully they turn out to be legit for all the people willing to stick it out!

The refund hasn't come through yet but the email was straight from ebay and my order on ebay is showing as cancelled with the full refund amount so I guess it'll come through shortly.
