Glorious people of HUKD I need to either decide to upgrade my crappy Gaming PC or Buy a Switch.
My Current PC Specs:
CPU: i3-4150 @3.5 Ghz
GPU: MSI R9 270
MOBO : MSI-H97M G43
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Red 8gb DDR3 1866
PSU: EVGA 500W Bronze (Non-Modular)
Case: Corsair Spec-03
Disk Drives: 128gb Sandisk SSD, 320gb 2.5" 5400 RPM, 240gb 2.5" 5400 RPM

While writing my specs out I realise my PC absolutely sucks!
Another mini side question, does anybody know how much the process of getting a driver's license costs? (Including lessons)
I like to think of myself as a fast learner. Gotta pass before the new changes in December, so the cheaper it is the more I can save up for my Switch or PC :)

Thanks in Advance!

Upgrade your PC.
Then get a Switch at a later date when it's cheaper and there's a bigger selection of games.

Depends what you want doesn't it. Gaming for me is all about having a pc.

PC, then just download the Wii U emulator for Mario kart 8 and Zelda. Sorted.

Someone's been pulling your leg. That's a perfectly decent entry level machine. The only reason I'd even consider upgrading it is if you were picky about settings or had a high resolution monitor.

If it's struggling to run most games then you've got a problem of some sort, not insufficient hardware.

I don't like or endorse piracy :) and I don't have a Wii U

I've had it for nearly 4 years, bought a few parts 2nd hand but basically brand new. I can barely play Dishonored 2 at a nice frame rate at 1080p, and more and more games are being released. My CPU isn't too strong, it can do the easy stuff but struggles when playing a game and having a few applications open. Also I wanna spend my money :)

You can build a great AMD Ryzen rig now for a decent price.

Sometimes if you do that the people you replying to don't get the notification. Thus replying to each separately ensures that everyone knows that I replied to them.

Haven't researched the Ryzen CPUs. I know this a lot to ask but could you possibly build me what you think would be a great Ryzen rig and kind of make a comparison to what it would be toe-to-toe with in an Intel rig? My Budget would probably be around £500-£600 (I know it ain't a lot and I don't need peripherals)

£839, could save £50-100 here or there though, with a different case, less storage etc etc etc, but decent:

Perfect, but honestly, add an SSD, at least 120gb, samsung if your budget can stretch, if not, 120gb sandisk is like £45.

Another side question how much do you think my current rig is worth? I was thinking of around £200 (without the ssd but with the 2 HDDs) Everything is in good condition only problem is that one of the front USB 3.0 ports doesnt work because I bent some pins.

Why not upgraded CPU to i7 4xxx . Get 16gb ram and stick a 1060 6gb/rx480/580 in there. Performance won't be much difference in game from a new ryzen build. And would save a few hundred for learning to drive. Which is pretty pricey

Because any i7 4xxx worth getting one leaves you without an upgrade path, and any 4xxx series thats actually worthwhile is expensive anyway, eg 4790k

You wouldn't need a upgrade for a while and several £100's would make a big dent in learning to drive.

Depends which CPU you're talking about getting, i7 4790k is still £260+ new. Then it depends if he has a motherboard to overclock it, as an example, then it depends if we're even going for an i7 4790k and if we aren't there isn't much point, as its just a dead platform as I said. DDR3 ram, etc. May aswell just upgrade and be done with it for the foreseeable future.

Exactly but the jump from the i3 to a i7 would be massive and ddr3 ram isn't that expensive, knowing that the op has motherboard issues rules out this option anyway.

Sell your cpu to cex replace it with a 4690 non k as your board can't oc then upgrade gpu when you can

I want a new mobo too because I need the extra usb ports at the front. So I might aswell upgrade to the Ryzen CPUs also don't you need the CPU box to sell it to CEX? I don't have mine.

Get a switch, u can game in bed, while traveling, in the loop, in the garden. Go for it and get one, alot of people are loving them and the way the Wii u held it price, there might not be much of a discount in the next year or so.
