I don't know about ASDA but when me and a few colleagues from work used to come back from Southampton, we stopped off at Tesco's around about 10:30ish and they had some deals on there.

Hope this helps!

I work for Asda and it depends what they've got going really. sometimes you can be lucky mid morning or the real bargains will be early evening, as they will be reduced right down to sell them.

Dont know asda, but tesco usually start to reduce at about 7pm then gradually reduce it more if it doesnt sell. So you got to play the waiting game if you want the rock bottom prices.

Within 2.5hours of opening or closing I tend to notice.
I.E.
On processed/longer term items that are going out of date that day (ASDA had this on the 27th and I got several items at less than 40%)
or
Fresh items they have to sell b4 the store closes or it'll go bad and they have to throw it away, fruits, bread etc.

Ultimately depends on the stores policy etc though.

That's not necessarily true, but then again that depends on how close to closing time you mean?

Companies normally reduce their food about 2/3 hours before closing, this way it gives them time for customers to spot them and get rid of them. I know the North Eastern Co-op and Bells stores adapt this policy.

I think it does vary alot. I was in spar at 9.45 the other night and they were only just reducing things. Bit odd as they shut at ten.

I think they reduce when the workers want to!!

I used to work for Tesco, bunch of lazy gits!! lol, and thats the managers!

where I work we do 3 daily date checks.
first when we open up at 7, we check all our chilled produce, our fruit and veg and our bread and cakes and reduce things, usually by a third of their price, so if somethings 75p it usually goes down to 50.

around 5pm we go check whats left of our reduced stock and reduce it further, so my original item of 75p that went to 50p now becomes 25p.

and later in the evening if we've quite abit left I reduce things firther (think im the only one at our store that does this) so around 10pm i reduce hot foods to 10p/20p and bring all the other reduced prices down too.

so by 11 if the stocks still there it really isnt worth buying!
