Does anyone actually pay for Amazon prime?

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone on here that pays for the monthly Amazon prime subscription? 79.99 a month is very pricey no matter what the perks are...

£79.99 a year haha. Not per month :p

it used to be £50/year - thought it was too steep then, and i definitely think it's too steep now, especially as 1 day has recently turned into 4 days.

Don't forget the film and TV streaming service also.

I don't actually subscribe aha, it would be no use to me, as you're saying, I did the trial and nothing they had appealed to me (except what they want to charge you extra for).

I do however think that for £6/month for unlimited 'next day deliveries' (I can't comment on this one as I don't often order from amazon, but when I have done I haven't had any issues), and a few movies that you may want to watch to pass the time, you are getting a good deal. If you think how much next day delivery and a movie rental normally is, just for one of each you're probably looking at £6. That's just my thoughts though :p

I subscribe. probably had 100+ next day deliveries with it this year, I use the streaming, and it allows other family members to have all the advantages also.

well worth it for the enhanced delivery alone

I'd consider it if they could deliver on their one day delivery statement, but they claim that because i live too far north then then can't guarentee that items will be delivered the next day.

I have just bought a book today and as its not a rush i could happily wait for the free delivery, only problem with that is Amazon forced me to take the free 1 month trial (which has been cancelled) or pay for delivery, i was not allowed to only select the free delivery. I think this is a blatant attempt by Amazon to steal money from customers who by being forced into taking the trial might forget to cancel and then get stung for the whole fee.

Its the same with their Subscribe and Save 'offer' 1st three orders are reduced by 10% but then somehow the 4th delivery always has a price increase to about 20% higher than the original price. This is regardless of what the item is or how often you getit delivered. I have got ontoTrading Standards about this little 'conspiracy'.

I have the paid service and it is great. I'd be quite lost without it.

I'm a prime member too. I order quite a lot from Amazon but the last 5 deliveries haven't arrived next day as promised. I complain every time and they add an extra month free every time I complain.... so it's not bothering me too much. They clearly can't keep up with demand, as they're now offering incentives for prime members to choose longer delivery periods.

Had been a paid member and never an issue with deliveries. Cancelled the auto renew this month as i cant justify the price it is now, especially since i dont use the instant video service. Thought that was cheeky of them to include it in the first place.

Agreed, I also do not want the video service, so why should we pay for it.:(

yes, i pay i like the movies, and getting most things next day, i paid £50, i was going to buy riddick for £10 and watched it for free. Netflix used to have much better films but amazon are trying very hard and they have some brilliant films now.

PS i also have Netflix

An item on avarage you order and need next day every 3 days or so! Thats alot.

Me I just use Amazon locker next day if I need next day and pay. I'd have to buy a whole lot to make prime cheaper. Wouldnt use the streaming anyway.

IF you just order the thing you need next Friday on Monday, then continue your regular every three day order cycle, you could save yourself 80 quid a year.

Really good had prime until 5 weeks ago all my prime orders came next day . Amazon didnt auto review so i didn't bother but its good

Split between 4 of my family at different parts of the country, take it in turn to pay, is good value
Or was till they bumped the price

I am on 6 months free as a student at the moment and it has saved me a fortune with Christmas shopping.
Will probably renew when free period ends in March, but it's half price with student email.
#22
I pay but would prefer not to have the tv/video bit as I don't really watch it but have seen loads of stuff my boys would love to see if only I would let them! No problems with deliveries and Prime has been invaluable for my Christmas shopping and for having to get a pressie for a party one of my sons has been invited to and I've forgotten to buy one. We live 25miles from a city or large town so choice of shops/products is really small. I do get a bit miffed that I pay for Prime and then see that the Prime price is a bit dearer than the non Prime price but having said that I say I've saved myself way more than the subscription fee in not paying next day delivery on my shopping in the 6 months I've had it.
#23
If there was an option just for "prime delivery" and obviously cheaper, I'd definitely consider it.

The rest of Prime I just didn't bother touching during the trial.

Our family all use the same prime account, £20 each is a bargain and we find plenty to watch on Instant Video.

I used to subscribe to Love Film. Then they split this into Love Film by Post and Love Film Instant. I cancelled Love Film by Post when they stopped lending games, then they renamed Love Film Instant to Prime Instant. At this point I paid the extra £5-ish and got the full Prime service, so pretty cheap 'add-on' for me.

Generally I'm not bothered by next-day, so I might start selecting the 'I don't care' option and get the £1 digitial credit on each item/order.

Other benefits, for me, include the Kindle Lending Library. 1 free book a month out of a decent selection. Already saved money here.

Add to this I can share the next-day with other family members, I'm struggling to see what is not to like.

Agreed. Only worth it if you split it people. 3 people inc myself is good enough for me.

I use next day delivery quite a bit I've found, me and my partner currently have a couple of accounts each. I wasn't too bothered about next day but, I think I'm a bit obsessed now but, it also comes in handy for pet food as Amazon is cheaper than the local shops and generally it is delivered next day as promised which is handy if I forget. The other company I was ordering from, I was having to order a week before needing it as it took so long and now they only do free delivery on orders over £29 :(. So have found Prime invaluable.
Also use the video streaming quite a bit. Currently watching something called Haven which isn't on Netflix. Am hoping we finish watching it before my Prime trial expires :p.
