You can try Millets/Blacks or similar .

You have three types to choose from. Charcoal, fluid burner or electric. Charcoal is cheapest, but getting the charcoal sticks may be an issue (defending on where he is). Electric is cleanest and most convenient, but without access to a charger it can't be refilled in the field. Fluid burner can be refilled in the field and suitable fuel is most likely accessible to forces personnel.
I would get one from Amazon, next day delivery via prime if possible. Save you a lot of walking and ending up buying something 'that will do'.

Cotswold outdoor shops have the liquid filled pouch reusable ones with a small metal disc inside them, just bend the disc to start the chemical reaction that makes the liquid warm up, boil the pouch for a few mins to reset the reaction for use another day http://m.cotswoldoutdoor.com/lifesystems-reusable-hand-warmers-e7344049?id_colour=6980

I have a few if you want to buy them.

@ding. Only 90 mins, and quite heavy too apparently. I would still opt for the liquid fuel ones.

I saw some similar to these at Home Bargains in ravensthorpe (dewsbury) - £1.50 for a pair - they had minion characters on them though
