Ring the number and ask, otherwise don't be a silly-billy.

Not without a court order.

try typing it in google, sometimes people have their numbers registered online and the area they live in.

search facebook for the number sometimes it spits out the person who owns it, I used to do this when I was single after a night out and had a number from someone I didn't remember meeting

alternatively look at the number in whatsapp, they often use their full names and/or have a picture you can then reverse search on google

I should really be a P.I

thats called stalking.
if her bf is cheating then leave! or even ask him what's going on

op, there's millions on mobile numbers, if each gave an address then I'd be speechless

^^^^ This.
Save the number in your phone then grab a few messaging apps and see if shows a profile picture or any other info. WhatsApp, viber, tango etc.
Facebook search and also just a google search - a gumtree listing or something may come up.
Other than that, your options are limited. Maybe get a friend of the opposite sex to call it and claim to be a courier, or just ask for 'Mike'.
You won't be able to do a full check on the number unless you're in law enforcement.

put the number in to this website... https://www.mobilephonechecker.co.uk/guides/network-checker/

it will tell you what network the phone is on. then write a script as if the caller works for that company in their fault department. get someone (not you) to ring as the fault operator for that cellfone network and follow that script.

ask for details of how the fault issue has been dealt with for customer satisfaction. when told there was no fault act surprised and ask to confirm number called and network.with person called. say a fault had been reported by the user of that number on a specific date/time. the person called will deny reporting a failure. say this is a problem and ask to confirm name address and postcode of the person called for data protection and ask if they are the person that pays that bill. if they are reticent about giving name and address say that you are sorry but they cannot be entered into the promotion for 6 months free calltime if picked at random.

once you have that information say that confirms with the billing system and apologise for the call and thank the person for their time.

Why not just ask your partner?
Sounds like you already distrust them, so snooping around and checking every random number they have dialled is only going to make it worse.

If you insist search the number online (google, social media sites and apps, etc) or simply pretending to be a competition winner, seen an add they placed online or for a free mobile upgrade. Hell you could do it by simply pretending your a takeaway who had a collection booked by that number.

Honestly though even if you do find out who it is it's going to eat you up until you actually confront your partner

Agree, if you can't communicate honestly with your partner and don't trust them, the relationship is more or less over anyway.

the chap in question says thanks for the replies. i basically told him the same thing, but thought id ask.
turns out number is a land line so the apps idea, although really good wont work.

Can't believe some of the criminal suggestions that are mentioned here. Are you 13 or something? I mean, seriously!

no it isn't "Stalking: A person who harasses or persecutes someone with unwanted and obsessive attention." it's just investigating a number
