Hi All,

I am after a DSLR camera. It has been roughly about 2 months since the last one was posted on HUKD. Just have enough cash now to look seriously but I have been looking everywhere but there is no good deals about. Possibly I have not been looking at the right places.
I know it is a bit cheaky but if anyone can find Nikon D60 with 18-55 lens under £300 would be awesome. ;) Cheers!!!

I decided to go for the Sony Alpha 200 from Argos for £259.99 with the 18-70 lens. Am very pleased with it.

You might want to try looking for a D40x (unless there is a specific feature the D60 has that the D40/D40x does not)

Think the D40x (remember the X as the D40 is slightly different) has the same megapixels as the D60 so unless there is a reason you want that over the D40x I would have a look around to see if anyone still has one as it would be more in your price range.

Also (this is just my opinion) I would assume (hope I’m right as I’m after the D90) that as newer models of cameras come out, older ones start to go down in price. The D5000 is supposed to be coming out on the 1st of May and it is set in-between the D60 and D90 so it might help to lower the price of the D60. We can only hope.

Other then that, sometimes places like Jessops do discounts on there product for a certain amount of time, say on a bank holiday weekend, or cause that’s what head office has told them to do. I was also told when I worked at Jessops that is was to help make way for new stock, but I’m not to sure on that.

Other then that have a look online like on Jessops.com as they often have deals going or bundles as they call them, so even though you might have to folk out an extra £30-£60 it would be more worth it online as you might get anything from a large memory card with £15-£25 or a bag or tripod thrown in (or all three). And sometimes they do twin lenses deals which are web exclusives like the bundles (though obviously they would say if it was a web exclusive)

The D40x may not be as uptodate a model as the D60 so not sure how many shops may still have one in stock but heres the specifications if your interested

10-megapixel CCD
ISO 100-1600
SD memory card support (SDHC compliant)
Jpeg and Raw formats
2.5in LCD
USB2
Pentamirror viewfinder
AF assist lamp
Six scene modes
126x64x94mm (wxdxh)
475g

Other then that I can't be of anymore help, other then watch who you buy from online...

Cheers Zebredy,

The reason I was interestet in D60 was the reviews I have seen on the gadget magazines and internet reviews. As a starter D60 is rated 9.5 or 9 in most places. But I am curious to find out the exact differences between D40x and D60, at the end of the day I am at the entry level and will probably best to have a more simpler machine. I am off to Jessop's at lunch to do some researh :).

And like you say it is best to wait for this bank holiday. Hope the reductions flood in with the arrival of D5000.
