Whatever one you go for (and I have used both phillips and Sony) make sure that it records on Dual Layer DVDs as you can get up to 14 hours on one. ok you might not want to do that but you can certainly record at a higher quality on a DL DVD.

My Sony has both a HDD and records on DL DVDs. I record everything on the HDD then edit out what I do not want and then record to DVD. You can divide, cut and fast dub on it. Mine has a built in EPG and can control my sky box to make timed recordings.

However check out all the available models and get the best spec you can.
What model do you have?
What model do you have?

The RDR-HX525
davelfc where would it say if it had built in EPG function?

Would be a handy feature
Sony RDR HXD860S, I have this model, 160GB Hard Drive, very good EPG on this one to, slightly more expensive than the RDR-HX525,but 80GB more to play with
Can i get a Dvd Recorder hard drive with Divx Playback and EPG playback for £150- £200

Is it worth getting one that can record to ram discs ?

Unsure on what to go for.

Might be best to get 1 with hard drive as i want to create menus, also want to copy my old videos to dvd.
