Hi everybody,

I am due to change my mobile contract and I think that I am going to go for one of those sim only packages. Therefore, I am looking for a new or really good condition E71 phone to go on either vodafone or o2. Maybe one of the people who opted for this phone and eventually realized they suffer from the "fat finger" condition and can't get used with the keypad would submit their offer?
Many thanks everyone and I'm waiting for your best offers..

£279.99 delivered for a sim free handset from Play.com is the best deal for a new one. I would avoid any unlocked Three variants as you cannot rebrand the firmware yet so you will have all the Three links and logos on there. For a genuine O2 handset you can get a sim free one from Carphone Warehouse for a similar pprice to the Play.com unbranded one.

Totally agree but it nearly doubles the price.. I've got to be looking at cheaper options or just add £10 per months to my 18 months sim free contract and get the one from them. Worse case scenario: £10 per month over 18 months = £180. But I'm hoping for cheaper than this even thoughj £180 in 18 instalments should be cheaper than £150 all upfront...

What makes you think that you are not able to change the fw?

Very easy to change the product code and reflash with generic FW.

PS. £180 over 18 months is still £30 more expensive than £150 surely???

As an E71 owner I had done a lot of research before deciding on a branded or sim free handset etc, and I read on a several Nokia and E71 forums that the generic firmware was not available as a version to flash on a software branded handset even with the product code change methods - this was backed up with guys who had tried and failed.

I can't really comment on debranding, but I do know that NSS supports E71, and changing the product code DOES get the Nokia software updater to download the corresponding firmware. This works on an unbranded E71 phone. That's all.

Thanks tsukasai..
That is exactly my point of view.. Can't be any more logic than this..

So? No offers? should I still wait? My current contract which is on Three is ending in 20 days time. So I guess I've still got time for some late arrivals :)
