I would only send to the confirmed PayPal address. Not worth the risk/hassle.

In a word yes sounds like a scam. If a courier is trying to deliver he needs to arrange with them or collect from them. send to an unconfirmed unlinked address at your peril
#3
I've done it before, didn't feel confident doing it but i did do it and it all worked out all right.

I'd just say to him your sorry but you can only send it to confirmed paypal address.

He should have been left a card by the couriers or they could leave it with a neighbour etc.
#4
If "his problem" has always been a problem then why does he not amend the address on his paypal account?

Simples

You will lose any claim from ebay/paypal - contact ebay
#5
ok guys thanks will tell him to contact them himself
#6
If the user says they haven't received the item, ebay will ask you for proof of postage and the address/postcode they want to see is the confirmed. This doesn't always work in your favour though but it certainly reduces that risk.

I've had this asked many times and always let them know I can only post it to the confirmed PayPal address.

ive sent hin the contact number and online link to redeliver

cant do more than that really

thanks for advice

Only ever send to the confirmed PayPal address if you don't you will not be covered by eBay or PayPal.

He can add his wife's work address to his paypal account. I have three addresses on my paypal which are linked to mine.

The courier keeps trying to deliver to my address:
They normally only try once and if you are not in they leave a card. Can't the buyer collect fronm the courier depot? Sounds too dodgy to me.
#11
Sounds like someone may have had their account hacked or he is trying it on! Get him to arrange the delivery himself, they will either delivery on the weekend or more likely they will store it at the depot for collection.

ok o sent him the info now ive got this

Hi again,

I have just spoken to the courier service and they told me that they cannot change the delivery address without authorisation from you, as you are the sender. Please can you therefore contact them and give them my wife's name and office address, as otherwise I will never receive the item. City Link only deliver during the daytime in the week when I am not at home, so the item has to be delivered to a different address. The depot is nowhere near where I live and I don't have the time to go there in person. I understand your concern about ebay policy etc. but if you don't change the delivery address I will have to mark the item as undelivered and start an ebay claim against you, which I would rather not do. It should be simple enough to just contact City Link and give them a new name and address; they are waiting for your call so that they can rearrange the deliver. Please ask them to deliver
#13
You can chat to an ebay assistant online and ask them. I've done it a few times over the past couple of weeks when I've had some issues with buyers.

They also send you the chat transcript so you can keep that if you follow their advise and something goes wrong.
#14
I wouldn't do it, not for £90 anyway - £10 maybe, I would rather give him a refund and suck up the delivery fees and negative feedback than do what he is asking, there is no reason that he couldn't ask someone to wait for it if hes that keen.

I would only ever send to the paypal address, no matter how pleasant the person seems.

That is crap about city link. When they leave a card there is an option for the receiver to reqest the item can be left with a neighbour.

He shouldnt buy online if he makes it so difficult to receive parcels.

He could take a day off work like others have to do.

Direct the buyer ti this thread.

I think the buyer is disgusting for issuing a threat to claim non delivered item when the arrogant tool is the one making the delivery so hard to do.

yes he is making it very hard to fir me no happy about that

I believe that the official line is that if you wish to have an item delivered to a different address other than the Paypal listed one, then it should be requested during the Paypal payment- the buyer has the option to add a message during payment. I also understand that if you post to a different address without this message, Paypal will not cover you if the item is claimed "not received" - even if you have proof of postage.
Best thing to do, is to tell the buyer that you can only send to the registered address, and offer a cancellation. EBay & Paypal should back up your decision.

As for Citylink, I wouldn't touch them as your courier service. They don't let the customer change delivery address- not even to a work address or a neighbours' address. My nearest depot is 45 miles away, and I start work before they open, and finish after they close. They also don't open on weekends. The most inflexible courier service I've ever encountered.

Oh, and once the sale is over and done with, go to your EBay settings and block the buyer from your future auctions. It's harsh, but there's too many time wasters on EBay.

I never used to make use of this, but in the past year or so I have encountered so many bad buyers that I now add anyone who messes me about to it, ever since they started siding with buyers automatically I have noticed more and more scammers/bad buyers.

Send this to eBay. Tell them the buyer is being unreasonable and is blackmailing you.

"but if you don't change the delivery address I will have to mark the item as undelivered and start an ebay claim against you, which I would rather not do."

Sounds a bit of a cretin to me. If it's so simple for you to rearrange delivery why is it not so simple for him to take a day off work? Chump.

Id defo avoid. Cancel the transaction if you can. I wouldn't trust him at all.

what if i ask to addd the new adress to his paypal

You've been advised several times yet you still question

So I'm being blunt and straight to the point

Contact Ebay now - do not communicate with the seller until you have done so. The seller has admitted he "always has issues with delivery" then it's his responsibility not yours to have a delivery address on his account that is functional

You will lose if you fail to take the above advice.

what if i ask to addd the new adress to his paypal

I did this,

I had a buyer who bought a high value item talking over £500.00 here i booked and insured it with courier and then he says

"oh my address has changed but hasnt on paypal, i forgot to change"

so i advised him could only for my protection send to paypal verified address.

he then said for me to cancel delivery and he would change paypal address get it verified and then i could post it?

i queried this with paypal they said they would give me seller protection if i used the new address, so i agreed.

everything changed i sent it and it worked out fine.

but what i also did was cancel the original payment refunded him, and resent a new invoice for him to pay again with correct address.
#26
last 2 days have been a nightmare the item is on its way back to me because he did not pick it up.he.know.wants his refund .can i hit him with the postage cost
#27
Unfortunately not, although you should refund him minus postage cost and take a hit on your feedback which he'll probably neg you anyway. Also take your time refunding him. Comment on his feedback"potential scammer, wanted to send to a non verified address".
#28
Can't you get eBay to cancel neg if you can prove messages and tracking?
If the guy can't receive a parcel, that's his fault.
He also threatened you with negative feedback which constitutes blackmail and is against eBay policy during a dispute. Raise this with them and get him dealt with properly.
He has been very unreasonable and it's not fair for you to be down a penny or get bad feedback. If he knew he had delivery issues, why didn't he update the address? Not doing so and requesting an informal change of address is #1 on the scam list, so you did right by not sending it there.
#29
Raise a case with eBay.

Advise them you were requested to send to a non-registered address, and the item was not picked up when sent.

They will side with you if you give them all the facts...
