Purchased item from ebay private seller but they put the US size if the trainers instead of the UK size so of course they don't fit. I have messaged the seller who has agreed for me to return them. I will open a case on ebay, but how can I get my money back for for the postage cost I'll have to pay to return them?

Open case with Ebay item not as described explain what has happened in notes. You will not pay return postage

When you open the return, you will be presented with a series of options, depending on which you select will depend on who pays the return postage.

Doesn't fit - buyer pays
Changed my mind - buyer pays
Found a better price - buyer pays
Just didn't like it - buyer pays
Ordered by mistake - buyer pays
Doesn't work or is defective - seller pays
Doesn't match description or photos - seller pays
Wrong item sent - seller pays
Missing parts or pieces - seller pays
Arrived damaged - seller pays
Doesn't seem authentic - seller pays

So make sure you select the correct one. Ie, doesn't match description.

The poor seller, what a costly mistake to make :(

As above, you won't be out of pocket, you will get a postage label emailed to you to print out.

seller will have to pay postage and then email you a returns note which you print off ie myhermes ,royal mail, parcel2go
print it off slap it on the parcel make a note of the tracking number and place that in the return tracking number , sometimes that has already been done but always keep a note usually the refund is automatic as soon as it tracks

Have you opted in to the PayPal free return promotion? They will now cover a certain number of returns a year just to make it easier on all. Prob a genuine mistake but either the seller or ebay will cover the cost so don't worry.

You're a barrel of laughs aren't you,it's an easy thing to do with UK & US sizes, nobody is going to list them as the wrong size deliberately,we all make mistakes even you jeez.

+1 for this, not sure if it covers international postage though. Just had a refund myself from this scheme, so it's an option to consider.

Yeah I have opted into that, but think I need to pay first then send PayPal proof of postage and then they refund...?

I think the seller is in the UK but selling US sized shoes. As long as the item can be sent back via Royal Mail, courier or any other regular shipping service and was paid for in full via PayPal from any site that offers PayPal. This offer is for Worldwide shipping but a heavy item would cost waaaay more to send back to the US than £15.

The seller is UK based. The shoes have a UK eu and US size in them. The seller listed them as the US size but stated in the listing it was the UK size, hence wrong size was listed.
Id rather not have to pay anything to return them than wait for a refund so will open an eBay case and hopefully like others have said will get a printed label.
If not I'll do the PayPal thing. Do I simply retain my proof of purchase or so does it need to go via some kinda specific method

Well personally I would send Royal Mail tracked first class as they will cover up to £15. Your seller may be really lovely about it all anyway so just wait & see what they say. It is always nice to know you are covered tho :)

Royal Mail cover £20 for first and second class mail. If you upgrade to Signed For it is £50.

The OP merely needs to open a case. If the seller doesn't provide the label she/he can escalate on day 8 and eBay will either provide one or will refund without a return.

I'm loving the down votes everyone has been given. At least the OP has been given (on the whole) good advice here.

Just regarding the down votes, there are some idiots who seem to troll these pages just down voting literally every comment - it happens on loads of the ASK pages. Just ignore it, it's not a reflection on what's being written, it's just some moron.

wow down voting comments which actually answer the OP's question.

I contacted the seller & they were apolgetic. I have opened a case to return but awaiing for them to make an official response to the case.

Presumably they haven't accepted the return yet so you will have to wait on them initially, when did you open the case?
