eBay's shafting us again with extra fee's! Opinions?

I'm getting fed up with this, always seem to be increasing their damn fee's.

They already charge us 10% plus 10% of the postage which I believe is unacceptable. Then they added charges if you end your item early with a bid. Now this.

Here is the new one

"Hello,

On 2 September 2014, the maximum final value fee for private sellers will increase from £75 to £250. This change will only impact listings with a sale price of £750 and above (or £937.50 and above for private sellers with a Basic Shop) and will affect items listed from 2 September 2014 onwards.

As a private seller without a Basic Shop, this means that if you sell an item for under £2,500 your final value fee will be 10% of the total transaction price (including postage). If your item sells for over £2,500 you will be charged a maximum final value fee of £250."

Yes, it probably won't affect too many people but that really annoys me as it will affect some of my sales.

I know its a pain in the back side but when you consider the maximum fee paid is ten percent against a auction room fee of at least 15% plus vat its not a bad price.

That does make me feel better but only a little :p

It does give a great amount of exposure however by the time you include all the expenses its actually considerably more than 10% for a sale, especially with lower value items.

For example. I sell an Xbox 360 game for £15 inc postage.

£1.50 eBay fee's.
£1.83 postage
£0.71 PayPal
£0.20 Jiffy envelope
£15 - £4.24 = £10.76. That's like 65% of the sale I actually receive, so around 35% goes in expenses.

I appreciate that's not all going to eBay BUT you can see what I mean. eBay could help us a little by lowering fee's to 5% X) they'd still make milllions!

Ebay is out of hand , run by scum bags and used by many more scum bags. The ammount of times I was messed about by tools with broken english , then what ? I have to jump through hoops to get a final value fee for who ? Not me and my time and work for the listing but for Ebay , yeah you can lose out but they sure wont.

Anybody justifying fees on Ebay is a bit of a tool , since when should anybody be able to put a fee on postage when they already have a fee on the item ? greedy **** !

Ebay doesnt care about sellers , thats why they let buyers scam sellers no quibbles , exactly what ebay is doing really scamming its sellers.

You dont make money on Ebay , you make Ebay money thats all.

Amazon is a lot better imo

Amazon's charges are higher than ebay's (for video games at least, which is all that I sell).
After the sale you then have to wait 2 weeks to get paid.
I've only sold 3 games on amazon, and one of them was reported as not being received. Despite the fact that I sent recorded and that the person clearly signed for it, amazon still forced me to refund them. I also kept having issues where I would list an item at the lowest price compared to the other sellers, where the other seller matched my price and added mine to their basket until their copy sold. Therefore I will never sell on amazon again.
I've never had a bad experience selling on ebay (sold about 100 games), but on amazon I definitely have.

I used to sell on eBay, but then I had enough of their lack of protection for sellers, they usually side with the buyers. I reccommend that you try to sell your items on Gumtree, Friday Ad etc. Of course there is going to be less traffic, but also no costs for you if the buyer collects.

Auction houses actually host the item and provide in house auctions its not even a valid comparison

I wasn't trying to make a direct comparison, more what options if you want to sell at auction and do not want to use e-bay.

Wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. Just people moan about ebay while still using them. Just put your prices up to compensate :) that's all I do.

Facebook selling is worse than eBay, there are some right special cases on the book.

Have to agree, unless you want hours of your time wasted and 50p for everything you sell, avoid Facebook lol

Sorry but that's just my experience. Advertise something reasonable priced at £300 and get offered £120!
