Usually it's automatic if the seller cancels, you receive a message from Ebay saying "The seller cancelled an order"

We want to make sure you receive your refund back on your original payment method. When you receive your refund, go to your cancel details page to let us know.

Is that the message from Ebay you received ^^^^

Is your Paypal funded via your bank, that's maybe why you're not seeing it straight away in your account.

Paypal is connected to 2 bank accounts, but I never have to take money from the accounts. But that could be it. How long would it take to show up?

Go into the original transaction on Paypal and see if it's showing as being refunded there.

I'm not up to date with Paypal refunds anymore as I always pay with funds,so I'm not sure.

You could also try looking under activity in Paypal and under the refunds header.

This is what it states in Paypal :

How is a refund credited?
If your buyer paid with a credit card, the money is refunded to their credit card. If the credit card they paid with is closed or invalid, the money will still be refunded to their credit card account. It can take up to 30 days for a refund to appear on their credit card statement.
If they paid with their bank or PayPal account balance, the money is refunded to their PayPal account. After they’ve received the refund, they can withdraw money from their PayPal balance to their bank account.
If they paid using a credit card and their PayPal account balance, the amount paid by credit card is refunded to their card. The remaining amount is refunded to their PayPal account.

So it looks like ive just got to wait for it to come back into my paypal

It isn't a scam. For at least 6 months now the process of cancellation has changed on Ebay. Now, when the seller cancels, Ebay process the refund for the seller, the seller can't amend it or stop it. So as per the other suggestions, it will probably be in cyberspace somewhere waiting to hit your account OR the Ebay process could have spluttered and the refund not linked itself. Either way it isn't the seller trying to scam you. If you don't have the funds after 14 days I would let the seller know and ask if they can check their Paypal to see if it's refunded. There have been reports on the Ebay boards where the refund shows for the seller but doesn't go through in Paypal.

you wouldn't download a car?

if it was free, and if there was little chance of getting caught, and if you got caught nowt bad happens, then yeah car downloading would be even more rife than media downloading

Still no refund and the only options i seem to have with ebay after the seller cancelled are either i have received a refund, or i didnt pay.

Did you pay for this order and receive a refund?
I didn't pay for this order

I think it's just eBay.
Due to errm, stupid people, on eBay, I've ended up having to cancel three transactions. The first one took ages and I was worried the buyer hadn't been refunded because the balance was still in my Paypal but, eventually it worked itself out. The second time someone asked to cancel, it happened almost immediately, so I dont know if they paid via a Paypal balance - and then they said to just send it anyway, after they'd been refunded so think they were trying it on o.O. And the third one, took ages and ages but, that was because someone filed a chargeback for unauthorised use of their account so I had a negative Paypal balance and the funds for the refund had to come from my bank account via e-cheque. But still, only took a couple of days longer than the first person who requested I cancel the order.

As soon as seller requests to cancel order, eBay say they'll send the refund automatically, so sure it will work itself out :).

Lots of scams on eBay at the moment. People selling good things at half price so you will buy, then saying they will send at weekend and cancelling so that they can basically use your money as a free payday loan. At least you get it back in the end, but not right!

Turned out to be a scam, and not easy to get the money back, i`m guessing it works on people that dont know how to use ebay or paypal well.

Also looks like the same person has re listed the item again, or at least 10 of them this time. Another no feedback seller. Link below.
