Hi all, I need some advice on a purchase of an electro acoustic guitar for my daughters birthday.
I'd like a half decent one, preferably complete with amp but I don't want to pay a great deal as like most fads it may die a death over the next couple of years.

I believe she is playing a full size acoustic one ATM but she would like a electro acoustic one now.

Thanks as always for any advice given.

Greg.

Thanks for the reply, no electro acoustic unfortunately as the prices for electric guitar packages are very low (not sure about quality though)

The quality is quite good for the price..I see little merit in buying something expensive until you can play the instrument properly...in fact I would consider buying secondhand as so many buy guitars and give up after a few lessons.

Don't buy a really cheap guitar - will probably put them off if it doesn't stay tuned or has bad sound.

Either buy second hand or have a look at www.gak.co.uk or similar.

Something like this might be good :

I would consider forgetting about an electric acoustic.
You would get a better "normal acoustic" for the same money (and additional money for amp).
If she is just learning, then it should be loud enough as it is.
And, if she ever gets to the stage where she wants to get on your nerves even more ;-) you could buy a pick up and amp at that time.
