Electronic Cigarettes... Safe and cheap?

Hi all,
My parents are looking to quit smoking, but I doubt they ever will. I've heard electronic fags are a good aid to heping people quit, plus they're "healthy" in the way they don't contain tar (they still have nicotine though which is bad).

Anyway, I'm looking for advice on:

1) does this actually help people giving up
2) are these safe?
3) where can I get the best deal?! (this is HUKD after all!)

Thanks a lot in advance!

Personally I wouldn't bother. I tried these and they are expensive to buy and the cartridges don't last anywhere near as long as they say. However, I think the biggest problem was the batteries don't last long either and you seem to be forever charging them. They are healthy in the fact they don't contain all the nasties of normal cigarettes.

Having said that, when the cartridge is first used you do get the 'hit' of nicotine and this can reduce the craving you experienc when you stop smoking. But like I said, they don't last and get weaker everytime you have a drag.

I gave up using Champix (I got better service in Boots than my GP). I know these have been discussed with mixed reviews on HUKD before but they worked for me and I know a few others they worked for too.

Hope they manage to give up.
