They use cameras to enforce parking restrictions. They're used by Tesco's in all their car parks
#2
They're a real company. Yellow lines don't mean anything on a private car park.

It's civil so not criminal. Have they provided evidence, as I'm assuming they'll gave a photo?

By your own admission you've read the sign, so by doing so and parking, you have agreed to thier terms and conditions.

I can't remember the legislation off the top of my head for civil parking notices but can check my books later.

There is a thread on MSE about it. Basically, don't contact them and they cannot enforce the "fine".

Theres a simple way around situations like this that work, bearing in mind they will have taken a picture of your car...........

Take a picture of your car but add something to it like a cuddly toy in the window or dice hanging from the mirror,

Send them the picture of your car with the added extras and state your car number plate has been cloned,

They will try and refute it but stick to your guns and they will drop the fine

Assuming its a legit fine in the 1st place ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You will get letters from "Debt Collectors" and Solicitors, these are all part of the junk mail chain, ignore these as well, no matter how threatening they are.

The only one you don't ignore is a summons, which is very very very unlikely, less than 1% go to court, and with the knowledge, you will win.
#19
As others have said - do not reply to these letters

Ignore them and eventually they will go away

You'll need nerves of steal as the letters get stronger and stronger and they will threaten you with court etc. But when you receive the final court threat, about 3 months down the line, that's it no more letters!

We got caught parking in a Meadowhall retail car park last year. The company was G24 and the ignore approach worked fine for us. As it's a civil offence so the best they can do is take you to a small claims court and this will actually cost them more than they gain

Good luck!

Pay teh fine!

They are entitled to your first born!

I had 2 kids before I lost my court case!

Poor Butch, I miss him so.
#21
As others have said.

Ignore ALL letters, even those pretending to be from baillifs. Baillifs are court appointed, so the only way that a baillif can legally turn up at your house is if the company has taken you to court, won their case & you've refused to pay them anything, and then only after they've been back to court & asked for a baillif to be appointed for non-payment (at which point you will usually be given a final opportunity to pay before the baillif is appointed).

Keep your nerve, ignore the letters, & eventually they will stop. If the worst happens & they take you to court, wait until the day of the hearing & then offer to pay (before the hearing starts).
#22
we had four letters from the company then two letters from the Solicitors but looking online the solicitors are part of the company we have just ignored them
#23
The key point here is that in order to take an individual to court they need to be able to prove that individual was driving the car and committed the offence. This is rarely possible ... in fact are there any recorded cases of these actually reaching court?? I'd be surprised.
#24
cheers for all your comments again more rep added to you all thanks
#25
does ignoring the letters work if you are physically given a ticket on your windscreen?

It's all very common knowledge with a simple search on Google. Most sites will tell you to ignore it. Would you all pay any ticket/invoice that was put on your screen or posted to you?

Jenny and muffin, you both owe Peo Parking £50, reduced to £25 if paid within 14 days.
#29
i had nothing put on my screen thou......these private companies...............google is now my best friend sad aint ?
#30
I got a parking ticket from Euro car parks in January, did not think I had parked illegally & after reading online the comments to ignore it I did.
I have this morning received a parking charge notice ENFORCEMENT for £60.00 & that if I do not pay within the specified time they will forward the outstanding amount to a debt collecting agency !!
Like several other people that have contacted the forum, I am just not comfortable with this, should I put forward an appeal or shall I ignore it ?

right, I am really a bit p.. o... My parents went for a meal beginning of February at Church Farm Shopping Center in Stockton Heath. Dad 88 in July and Mom 83. Both are having extreme problems with walking and due to their age they are not the fastest eater anymore. Dad has a Disability display badge. They stayed about 25 minutes longer than the allowed 1 1/2hour. Of course there came the first letter with a requested fin of 90 pounds. I wrote the appeal for my parents immediately online and explained the situation when that letter arrived. They requested an invoice respective credit card receipt. I explained that they are from a generation which prefer to pay cash and that I was not able to provide a receipt. Once it is paid why should you keep a bill??? No need. Today arrived another letter were we got informed that the appeal was unsuccessful. OF course!! what else would you expect.???? However, I find it disgusting to put elderly, disabled people under such a stress situation. My question do my parents have to pay even so there is a Disability badge in the window??
#32
Ursula, Just stumbled on this... No, DON'T PAY IT! It's unenforceable... Not because your parents are disabled or anything, but because it's a breach of contract issue and you never entered a contract. Plus, the most they can take you for is a "genuine pre-estimate of loss". In other words, what they "lost" by your folks overstaying... As it's a free car park, this amounts to ZERO!

Take a look at http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60 if you need more info.

If it is anything like the parking "fine" I had (although not Euro Parks but UKPC) I had a letter threatening court action from a so called third party debt collection company which was the same company, I wager if you check into this "gladstone" they will be the same company.

It was last August when I had the parking "fine", I have not had any further letters since around December 2013, the last one being a letter threatening court action.

If you are stressed, google into it some more, see if like me all the chase up letters are actually from the same company which are scare tactics. If so, I would suggest you ignore it, and as a side note all the best with your pregnancy.

Thank you so much. Been doing some more reading and i will ignorr it
