Looking For an external harddrive at least 500gb but preferably 1TB or bigger?
what are the sorta of cheapest prices going, also i have noticed some drives are 2.5 or 3.5 what does this exactly mean and are 2.5 cheaper than 3.5 or vis versa?

2.5" and 3.5" relates to the size of the harddrive (in inches).

2.5" drives are obviously smaller and normally go inside laptops. They generally spin slower (4,000 or 5,000 rpm) than 3.5" hard drives (7,000 or 10,000 rpm) so are best avoided. 2.5" drives also have a maximum size of about 300Gb or thereabouts.

I think the largest 3.5" drive you are going to get is 1Tb.

Search HKUD and you will find some

Or buy a "bare" drive and buy a case and put the drive in the case. Here is a "bare" drive

2.5" or 3.5" is the width of the drive. If you're going for USB2 then the slower speed of 2.5" drives won't matter.

2.5" drives go up to 500GB, they're obviously smaller, and they're powered by their USB connection

3.5" Drives go up to 1TB, are cheaper for high capacities but require a mains power connection.
