is fibre broadband worth it

£0.00 @
I've just been called from BT as my contract expiring. They've offered £27.50 a month for unlimited fibre. First is fibre broadband worth it? And secondly are there any better deals ? Thanks Read More

What speed is it? I got 100Mb from Virgin for £32.
#2
Also, would you not have line rental on top of that with BT?
#3
have a look at your account online , should be some offers on there, mine has infinity 2 for £15 + line rental

is 27.50 inc rental ?

It's not worth it from BT. Plenty of better deals out there.

Deffo worth every penny, but not from bt! I have top speed unlimited and I can download a file of 10gb in a few minutes, shop around, call suppliers and haggle a price

What does everyone in the household use it for?

If you're just browsing and reading emails and couple of youtube videos then it's pointless to waste anymore money. Even Sky £60/year offer will be good enough.

If you're gaming / streaming off netflix then 38mb is probably enough. As above BT is probably most expensive and more so for existing customers, might be worth moving.

yes. Got free fibre from talk talk for 12months then £10 a month on a 18month contract. only 36mbs but its good enough ;)

I didn't speak to the person on phone, my sister did and she was just relaying info to me. But I'll have a look around. Seems like a lot of people are saying there's better deals to be found

I've just got fibre off sky.new customer £21 a month including line rental + a sky q box with box sets package

Virgin is by far the best option and as they are the only one with their own cable you don't need a phoneline. You would have drag me kicking and screaming to have anything from BT.

yes, I can download a HD movie on piratebay in a few minutes, on normal broadband it would take hours
#12
I would say it's worth it if you get a good deal, I'm on infinity 1 £10 month+ line rental. Up to 52mb!

virgin are doing 100mbs 12 month contract for £17 a month and I need to leave talktalk.

The internet drops for 3/4 mins at least once an hour with talktalk. If im upstairs, wifi signal is lost thats after upgrading router etc. Im sure it wasnt this bad a year ago it seems to be getting worse.

Not sure if its worth taking free/cheaper fibre from sky/bt etc. but i really want virgin due to the speed. Im scared to sign with virgin and it might be bad internet (seems to be hit and miss)

I reckon it is, especially if you stream a lot. Be wary that many ISPs don't offer very good routers (at least that's my experience with TalkTalk's cruddy Huawei HG633), if you want the best out of your service you may have to consider this too.

Best fibre deal.

1. Fibre is definitely worth the money, i think every household needs fibre really.

2. I haven't seen any deals lately but just head over to BT, Sky and Virgin (if you can get their fibre broadband), see what offers they have via their front page and / or deal page.

Plusnet uses the BT lines and is much cheaper with many deals on. They also do unlimited fibre (38mb)for £17.49 month ,unlimited fibre extra (76mb) for £22.49 month.
