I've had terrible problems with this company and person managing a property that I rent out.

I now find the tenant wasn't made to pay a deposit, the property is in a bad state of repair and am several thousands pounds in rent arrears.

anyone any advice? is their a regulatory body or ombudsman that cover this?

thanks all

It seems that Find It Lettings is registered with the Property Ombudsmen (tpos.co.uk) so maybe that could be your first point of call.

Wow thanks guys

Feel for you been there many years ago, then there was no help. You may have a better chance now.

I know that a company called Northwoods in Bolton, have changed management and one person there has been in the Estate Agent business 20 years they seem to have their heads screwed on might be worth trying them.We use them.

Good luck

If this is the same Paul Robert Mainwaring that features in the bury times and men then he is tricky. Bankrupt three, yes three, times in Bolton from 1996 on. It's not usually possible, but it happened. Given his criminal record, which is in the public domain, and his credit history it may be that the letting agency were in breach of duty not to check references, credit history etc. He was on disability, but may not be now. If he was, where did housing benefit go, to him, or letting agency? I'd ask a very thorough lawyer to ask searching questions of the letting agency.
Paul portrays an image of friendliness, helpfulness and confidence. He will not like it if a sign goes up in the garden outlining that he has not paid his dues.

I was introduced thru Paul's son, James a director until earlier this year.

Paul's daughter Emma Treen-Mainwaring was a director and now the son in law is a director -Mark Treen.

Looks like daddy was given the rein's by the children when he got out of nick early- presumable for good behaviour.

thanks.

can only find one bankruptcy, do you have company names.

just found he's now a director of Starting Fresh Residential playing the sob story. I'm all for a bit of rehabilitation but this guy is currently scamming ppl :(

Oh get out quick! This guy is poison. Scammed by him personally man years ago, and know of numerous other poeple in te same boat. Anyone who has business dealings with him woudl tell you to steer clear.

Looks like he had James and Emma holding the fort for him whilst he was inside cooking up this latest scam. He needs put away for good

This is what happens when you let Find it Lettings/ Paul and James Mainwaring manage your property:-

http:/****/SQUAL0R

Plus £3500 rent arrears and £1000 legal costs

Hi, I've also recently lost a lot of money to Paul Mainwaring through Find it lettings which no longer seems to exist. I am currently also trying to build a case against him to try and get my money back so I would be happy to share the information against him - my next plan of action will be to trading standards as he is no longer registered with any of the 3 existing ombudsman bodies.

Paul Mainwaring was never a director of Find It Lettings.

His clean cut son James Mainwaring apparently set it up with Mark Treen married to Emma (Paul's daughter/James sis)

Looks like it was to be set up ready for daddies jail release, who stepped in on early release.

Clean cut James now has quite a good job in the FA refereeing department in Lancashire, with such shady family and activity should this be allowed?

Find it lettings seems to have robbed so many landlords. As Paul Mainwaring running the lettings so he might have used his tricks to rob the landlords. I am aware that few landlords have lost lot of money by this crap lettings.
Agreed with JulianL's note - James Mainwaring was the director of this lettings, it should be escalated to FA to review his position.
Is property ombudsman take any action?

I did at one time wonder if James may have genuinely thought his dad had done his time and gone straight.

Paul was always contactable and friendly even thru the lies and deceipt.

Father Mainwaring mentioned he was a stroke survivor and partially sighted. I did worry that he had too much work and I spoke to his son to make sure all was OK. James immediately wiped his hands of everything (he'd recommended me to the (his) company))

I then found Pauls daughter on facebook - Emma Mainwaring-Treen and sent a polite message asking if her dad was OK because his level of service was so shocking.

She was rude and said "how dare I investigate her family! she bet I wasn't all sweetness and light" !!!!

I hadn't investigated the family but I immediately did!

three little words into Google 'Paul mainwaring Bury'

wow wow wow wow wow

another shock was having a search on Paul's Scouse accountant - peter cushion.

wow wow wow wow

a fellow crim who Paul apparently met 'on the inside' who done a million pound+ fraud!

when I started putting some heat on Find It shut and Paul already had 'starting fresh residential' in Bolton supplying housing to house ex-offenders cos 'everyone needs a 2nd chance' and he knows what its like to judged!

hahaha gotta laugh

there has been a suggestion of housing benefit fraud with Find It Lettings by an affected landlord.

I suspect something like that in my case.

I was told that the council were paying half rent to 'find it' and they would pay me this- only to find out this wasn't the case!?

Paul seemed to be working in the tenants favour and lied that he was processing eviction proceedings etc.

I bluffed the tenant saying I'd been told he'd been paying cash to paul and amazingly he admitted he had!!!! I also have it on film on my YouTube account.

The criminals son in law Mark Treen, who helped start Find It Lettings is active again!

As tenants we had our £425 deposit stolen by Find It Lettings. Are you having any luck with legal action? We went down the small claims route but predictably that was totally pointless.

I've given up personally.

there is a guy who is still on the case and would love to know the info.
