Same, but you get to set up kids profiles with a locked down OS with free access to hundreds of apps, videos and books.

we got one before christmas they are pretty good and amazon will replace on a 2 year guarantee if for example it's thrown in a bath lol

My little boy had his own standard Fire HD with his own profile. He smashed it today!

We pay £4 a month for kids unlimited, but if you buy the kids edition, you get this free for a year so it kinda made sense to get one. Amazon also offer 15% off a replacement too if you break yours. £85 all in and saving £4 a month, so guessing that's pretty good?

The kids edition comes with a year of the kids unlimited extras including access to apps and books etc. it also comes with the bumper case, and importantly it comes with a 2 year no question warranty, which covers any damage at all without a quibble whatever the cause.

Yeah I also subscribed to that every month on a standard tablet.

I take it there's no limit on claims in the 2 years then?

I bought my first kid an ordinary one, and I'm about to fight with Amazon, as they're telling me I'll have to pay for a replacement due to a faulty headphone jack (-15% very generously) as I'm a couple of months out of warranty. I'm going to fight on the grounds that their are a large number of users on their own forums advising they've had the same issue, which tells me it's a fault they should know about. (Probably something you want to consider!)

My little one dropped it from a height and smashed it so it's only fair. Was good of them to offer the 15%

Only thing I'm annoyed about is that the free 1 year of kids is only on this new tablet. When I was paying £4 a month, it could be accessed on multiple devices.

It also sucks. It's poor quality, we had three different ones in 4 months, the software is poor and the screen is low grade to say the least. You can tell it's a £50 tablet when you use it. The worst bit, and the thing that made us get rid of ours, was that when the SD card fills up the wifi stops working until you make some more space.

Given that everything downloads with a press, it really doesn't take long for the kids to fill it up and then it stops working until you go back through and clear off everything. It also seems to be very hit and miss when you're out and about without wifi as well.

I bought standard fire HD and kids bumper instead
Fire HD have better screen resolution, memory card slot... but I have to pay £1.99 monthly for kids staff :(

We got my 4 yr old one for Christmas, and while I like the fact you can ensure it's kids mode enabled, I feel the battery life is extremely poor compared to our ipads and Samsung tabs, it also seems to always need a wifi signal to work properly, many times in the car most of the games dissappear and only come back once wifi is on! Complete waste of time in that situation

The Kids Edition is the same as the newer Fire HD tablet which is what mine is used to. Also had a memory card slot.

No limit apparently :)

Your paying a chunk for the no questions asked 2 year warranty.
Kid dances on it and breaks the screen, free replacement.
Kid leaves it on the floor and the dog pees on it, free replacement.
Kid leaves it outside and it rains, free replacement.

Considering simply replacing the screen on any tablet sub about £150 is more then the cost of the tablet it's totally worth the premium over the standard kindles if it's for kids as accidents happen.

I was going to buy 2 for my neices but the price seems to have gone back up for full price in last few days.
