I recently bought a Firestick with the intention of installing Kodi but I can't get any of the guides to work for me. Some of the guides make mention of how certain things have been disabled to prevent Kodi installation but they offer a workaround which is still unsuccessful for me. I have ES installed and the two system options turned ON but when I try to download either direct from Kodi or 3rd party website the Firestick just downloads an HTML file. Help please!

I think the changes to ES are now preventing this method of installing kodi. I have no experience of firestick but if it is just another android box then one way of installing it would be to find the.apk file from somewhere (google play store perhaps) and then just install that. I think the technical term is sideloading.

There's an android app called Apps2Fire on Play Store, if you have an android phone/tablet it let's you push files and install apk's to your Fire Stick

I've tried that exact method several times with no success. The "open in new window" thing just opens an HTML again!

try this

the first step in this guide means you download the apk to your PC or laptop - not direct to the firestick. The rest of the steps are about installing kodi from your laptop/PC.

Thanks all. There is hope for me yet !
Whilst we're talking Firesticks does anyone else find the playback a bit dodgy?
I am with BT Infinity and all other devices stream with no issues but Firestick seems to stutter and buffer quite often.

I used apps fire, made it so easy. Also loaded mobdro the same way.

Got rid of my firestick and bought an android box instead. With regards to installing kodi, I use mobilego on my laptop, download kodi and transfer it over. So much easier that Es explorer

Thanks all but it was pesky BT Broadband that had scuppered me. All sorted now.

I downloaded a programme called adp (Google it) and the arm file from kodi.tv,
There's many videos on Ho to do it. It's very simple.
