Hi, I seem to be invaded by houseflies, yesterday morning I went into the hall and there was about 20-30 of them on the ceiling! loads more in the spare bedroom and more in the bathroom. I cleared them out and I had read somewhere that flies can come through the plugholes in the bathroom, so I put the plugs in, made sure the window was closed and shut the door for two hours. I went back in after 2 hours and the bathroom was empty. So they're not coming in that way. I have thoroughly checked everywhere for dead animals as we have 2 cats who are constantly bringing "gifts" in and we live in the country next to a field full of cattle so every year we have a few flies but nothing on this scale! they seem to gather around the skylight in the hall. Anyone know how they could be coming in? Thanks in advance

Better than a spider invasion as it seems they all have come back from their holidays

Do you know what kind of flies they are ? Someone on here the other day was reporting an issue with cluster flies which are a nuisance but harmless . So long as there are no lovely presents from your kitties it may not be much to worry about . Never heard of flies coming up through the plug hole . Can't imagine why they would be down there in the first place . You would have to be having something quite gruesome going on in your sewer . I read somewhere it was a bumper year for insects so hopefully it is just a passing inconvenience .

That was surprisingly gruesome reading.

Once hatched the larva which are parasitic seek out earthworms, they then bore through the worms skin and proceed to eat it alive.

Spiders are far better to have an invasion of, unless you're a big Jessie.
