Hi,I know there is a deal out there were you get a free boiler if you earn under 16k and are in reciept of certain benefits... but we are not in that criteria.... But I heard there is a deal were you get a new boiler fitted and you pay back via the money you save for having a new more efficient boiler....I did have ours checked for efficiency and it is only 75% efficient...And we did have a guy tell us we would be able to get one via this and he would sort out the details... but he as since changed jobs and as left the area.... just wondered if anyone knew anything about this, and could point me in the right direction as to where to go and get more info....

I think it's called the green deal. You pay a fee for them to come survey what you could do to your house to improve efficiency. If you take up one of their recommendations you get the fee back. I'm sure the way they work is you get something done eg new boiler and you pay back how much you save on your bills when repaying.

Yes it's called Greener Deal (or similar) OP should first contact their energy supplier then with details possibly shop around

Just a word of warning (from experience) it's not always the best price but the option to pay over long term makes it affordable to some

In cases I have seen - the work done (cost) was approximately £2k (external insulation) but the overall payback is estimated to cost in excess of £7k over 10 years

Then there was the case where due to changes in Greener Deal policies a person got external insulation done for free but to have their roof insulated will cost £3k whereas a neighbour paid £4k for both external and roof insulation - they think the supplier was trying to recoup the cost of free external insulation but it wasn't the homeowner or suppliers mixup - just a change in government policies/funding. (Corruption is still rife)
