Hello - I'm very confused by all the set top / kindle stick options out there, and I'm really hoping someone can help me out?

I'm separating from partner and my toddler loves to watch programmes available on amazon prime on the smart TV.

when I move out though I'll only have a 'non smart' LG TV with inbuilt freeview.

My question is, what are my options please for turning the LG into a TV where amazon prime will work, and also catchup on bbc, itv, C4?? if this is even possible? Or do I need to buy a new smart TV??

Thank you so much for any help!

cheapest way is probably a Amazon fire TV stick.
And with it being black Friday this Friday they could be £20

Buy a Fire TV stick. Literally turns any TV to a smart one. It has Prime already loaded and very easy to use

The boxes and sticks are entirely separate and require nothing from the TV beyond an HDMI port which everything except the earliest HDTVs have.

They work the same way as a DVD player or recorder, you use the source button on your remote to switch to them and then put the TV remote down and pick up the remote for the stick/box and operate that.

An Amazon Fire TV Stick will definitely do the trick.

You're actually better off with this Roku stick for £19.99. Cheaper, does everything you ask about, and gives access to Now TV as well, unlike the Fire Stick.

Just make sure your TV has an HDMI slot, otherwise this won't work (nor will the Fire Stick).

thanks so much all - this has been such a help!

so I've been comparing the roku and fire tv stick. undecided which one I'll go for yet, but I have another question after reading amazon reviews....

with the fire tv stick, can I still watch all the *live* free view channels (or just catchup iplayer etc.)? The LG television I will be using currently has a (useless!) ariel attached to pickup free view which is patchy. so if a firestick means I can get perfect quality freeview I think this is a good option for me? hope I'm making sense and thank you for reading this far! ;)

Looks like Amazon is now available on Roku, and it's official...
