Freeview / sky freeview box?

The first freeview box went wrong. Ok so it was a £30 Argos one, it lasted about a year.

The second one, my mum gave us as she bought one with a hard drive for herself. Thats just broken and wont turn on.

The flat we live in now has a sky dish. What is the best way to do things? We have gone through 2 freeview boxes in a year and a half. False economy?

Ideas please...oh and we have no money this month (birthdays etc)

:)

Just back from Tesco and the Bush Freeview box I bought 3 weeks ago has dropped to £30 from £35.
I am very pleased with it, comes with a scart lead and quite user friendly.

Needless to say, I bought another one at the £30 price and took it straight to customer services with the 3 week old receipt for a refund.

I love it when a plan comes together !!

This made me laugh, we have a 32inch technosonic hd tv from tesco, bought in november. If you leave it on standby for more than 5 mins then it wont come on again. We always turn everything off at the wall so its not that annoying, i just wonder what the life is gonna be like for that!

We seem to be very unlucky with these cheap electricals!

Technosonic had a ton of problems with the 32 inch tv!, I've read tons of reviews after pondering which tv to get (and i still haven't!)

Lol don't tell me that. For what its worth, the telly was about £400. In november this was an amazing price. Plus our old telly was older than me (24years old i think). I don't think the technosonic one will last that long. I give it 13 months, just out of warrenty lol :)

Are you sure its not something programmed into the tv?, So that it switches off?

It'll save on your electric bill anyway!

The Technosonic 32" inch tv was a different one to yours i think, One of the first models they made.

Yeah im pretty sure its not in the design as it would make no sense. I mean the standby light is on, but you press the on button on the telly or remote and nothing happens, you have to turn it off and on again at the wall. Saying that 1 in 5 times it does work as it should. You do get what you pay for I guess.

Still not sure about this freeview thing, maybe i should buy a sky box from ebay.hmm.
